Jakobe Walter working out for Detroit (5) and Charlotte (6) this week. Could there be a trade-back scenario with a team in the 10 - 13 range? Hmm. View: https://x.com/DraftExpress/status/1800952381150020014

He's a safe pick. I could see the Spurs or Grizzlies take Knecht.

At the top of the draft, it is. But the idea here is that Williams was once considered a top-5 guy, then he faded in the 2nd half of his college season, while other guys gained visibility. Some of that is now correcting. For example, Dillingham probably isn't going in the top 5-7 range. Who...

Where would you rank Keyonte George in his draft class today? Would it be the 6-8 range, where he was generally ranked during the first half of his college season? Or would it be in the 12-16 range, where he was ranked at the time of the draft last year, after he got hurt and had a somewhat...

Would you draft Buzelis at 10?

The shooting signals with Matas are concerning. Gordon Hayward didn't shoot well as a sophomore at Butler, but he had a decent freshman year and his FT shooting was always solid. It's hard to be able to say Buzelis was ever a good shooter in the past.

Shall I take a moment and explain to you and Cy what a '10% probability' means? It means that it's possible, but also very unlikely. There. You're welcome. It's not the same as categorically proclaiming that Cody is the next SGA. NBA teams are trying to project the futures of young, raw...

Cody Williams was consensus top 4 on several draft sites (incl. NbaDraftroom, Yahoo and Rafael Barlowe's NBA BigBoard), along with Sarr, Risacher and Topic up until late January or early February. Then Cody had injury issues. Then the UK guards gained prominence. Then Buzelis had a handful of...

I’ll bet some teams do have him in their top 3. I’ve had him in my top 3 all year.

The hope with Cody is that he can create and attack a defense. The biggest question is how his body develops.

That’s probably true. However, you would have said the same thing about SGA when he entered the draft.

This is true. Unless it turns out that Zach Edey actually is the best player in the class. In which case, everyone but Cy is wrong. :D

    2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

Yes, we can all read what I wrote. Developing like SGA is an absolute best-case scenario for Cody Williams, though it’s unlikely and unrealistic to expect it. I’m not backpedaling. Cody’s ceiling is very high. However, a more realistic outcome is a player like Josh Howard. Remember, SGA was a...

    2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

First of all, no one is going to argue that SGA is better than Jokic or Doncic. He's probably not better than Giannis either when it comes to playoff scenarios. So you're reaching with that argument. Let's say that SGA was a top-5 player this year. Cody has the tools to score in isolation. As a...

    2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

If everything goes perfectly, maybe he could become a top 10-15 guy. A player "like Shai" doesn't have to be literally Shai. I'm referring to Cody becoming an elite isolation scorer and on-ball creator, which would be a top-end outcome for him. Also, a bigger version of Shai isn't necessarily...

    2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

I think the vision for Cody would be a player like Shai, but a bit bigger. The chance of that actually happening might be something like 10%. So then you're probably left with a guy who can defend, move the ball and finish some plays. Maybe he can get to 17/4/3 or something. A guy like Josh...
