2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

Castle I think has more of a chance to be a good offensive player. I think his handle is better and has more wiggle and vertical athletic ability. His shot doesn’t go on but has less weirdness to it.

Black I think is a better defender as a stocks guy. Likely better passer. I think guys that haven’t been in the league have the mystery potential where all of a sudden they get in nba space or a role and pop immediately. Black played a year and didn’t pop. Castle has more pop ability imo.

Black has more of a unique weird game too… which can be good and bad.

I agree with almost everything here. The only things I would say is that I don't think Black is a better passer, they are both about the same. I would also say that even though I like the look of castles shot better, I have a hard time imaging him shooting 39% from 3 like Black did his rookie year, even if they are all wide open dare shots.

Typically when talking about a #8 for Black swap I think Orlando would suffer from “driving it off the lot”…..but we all know this draft is seen as lesser compared to last year. I think it’s a pretty fair deal value wise. Would I do it?

I personally like Black more than Knecht….but there will be other players on the board. I think I would take my chances with Holland, Castle, or Williams. Ditto for Shep or Dilly if they fall.

I went back and forth a ton on Black. I had concerns with his shooting and whether or not he was actually a PG. I think both concerns surfaced themselves but his strengths were also on display. Was a really solid defender, quick decision maker.

My issue with Black is his shooting. I don’t think he’ll ever even be below average. Look at Westbrook who isn’t a good shooter but much better. He put up triple double averages for a season and it still wasn’t enough to push his team over the top. Having shooting being your glaring weakness as a guard is devastating and tough to get around.
