2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

I just get the feeling he doesn't love basketball or just doesn't have the motor. Maybe there is a maturity issue there or something. On paper he seems like top 10 guy.
Not sure where you get that idea with how much he improved his body and overall game from last year to this year. He clearly put in some serious work.

No you don't. You can just draft him and play him like a regular backup center. You have to play drop, but that's the case with a lot of bigs.
He sets monster screens is what kinda changed my offensive view of him. He's not just gonna have to sit in the post to have utility on offense. He may get beat on the perimeter on defense but will also be a load to deal with around the rim.

He also seems to constantly improve both his body and his game. He's that size and seems to love the game and I think I'm here for it.

His jumper is way more fluid and the ft shooting is way more promising than Walker's ever was. I think there is a legit chance he at least shoots 35-40% on low volume. Doubt he goes Brook Lopez but its not inconceivable.

I haven't watched him... its the way expert talk about him. He give me shades of Christian Wood vibes.

That's a rumor floating around, that he doesn't really like basketball. I wouldn't know if there's anything to it. Skillwise, he looks like a reasonable starter to me.

With Zach Edey, you pretty much need to design your team around him -- slow the pace, play in the half court, dump the ball in, let him draw defenders, etc. It's like building around Yao Ming. It's definitely a zig to everyone else's zag.
I think Zach was kind of pigeonholed with the way he was used with Purdue because that was the best way to dominate in college basketball. In the nba I think he is best used as a screener/role and pop guy while being more active defensively.

Get him. If team structure from his style of plan suffers, I think he retains his value and he becomes a very tradable piece later on.

Probably saw how much his stock dropped after a year of subpar effort. He likes money.
Huh? He didn't give subpar effort at Indiana. He has his inconsistencies but overall was very good this year. He really struggled his freshman year at Oregon but was also extremely skinny which impacted what he could do on the floor. He basically just floated around the perimeter with Oregon.

Edey beat Sarr's land agility drill. Dude might be a consensus top 10 after today. lol.

Yeah, but there's plenty of tape showing how well Sarr runs the floor. Running for a short drill isn't the same as getting up and down for 15 minutes. That's the question with Edey. Teams are going to push the pace on him.

I'm not buying into any of the C's three point shooting, and for Edey and Clingan I don't want them spacing out either.

This gives me the flashbacks of designing the team around Gobert. The problem with building a team to cover for the weaknesses of your starting center that it REALLY limits your options: you need to trade for or draft other players with a very specific skillset. You have to either wait for these players to become available or to settle for less-than-ideal matches like Bojan.

I'm not truly buying it in a meaningful way but I think Edey has the most potential there based on SEVERAL clips I've seen on twitter. Pretty big sample.
