Following potential 2015 draftees

This is a weak argument. Sorry. Studs, like Glenn Robinson, have dominated while pretty much on their own. And the Big Ten stinks this year. I don't expect him to be great night in and night out or in every big game but he's really not shown up in one big game yet.

Glen Robinson was one of the best natural scorers in college basketball history. Not exactly a fair comparison. I'm not too worried about an 18 year old, who is the only scoring option on his team, having a few average games against good competition. You could say the same with damn near any prospect in the draft btw.

Oh hey, being the only option sure didnt hinder Hayward at all last year, did it? Too bad that's a weak argument, huh?

How is that not a fair comparison? We were putting Russell on this offensive pedestal, saying his metrics were the best in the last decade and so forth. But when it's come to the better competition, he's struggled. And this is in college against mediocre Big 10 teams. The NBA will be infinitely tougher. Hence, Hayward's struggles last year.

I'm not saying I'm right about this but let's not pretend it shouldn't be a concern, that's all.

Heh, I wish there was more film on him. I thought he looked pretty athletic, but I'll keep an eye on him going forward.

I think Looney can play on the perimeter, but much the way Marvin Williams did. Not super quick or explosive, but long and smart. The shooting touch appears to be there too. Looney is also a good and willing passer and team player. He's just not a guy who will normally put up close to 20 pts. per game.

And yeah, he doesn't look like a great finisher at the rim or in traffic. He's got a decent handle, but doesn't have the quick feet or body control to really slash. That's why I think he'll face and shoot like Luol Deng rather than try to tear down the rim. Looney doesn't seem to have the elite mobility that star players have.

I'm liking Oubre more. He's inconsistent, but the tools are there and he shows flashes of his potential.

What SG's in the NBA have a 7'2 wingspan? Ridiculous.

Some of DL's statements after the Kanter trade lead me to believe that there is a very good chance that the FO is seriously considering trading the pick...

Yeah I get that sense as well, but looking around the league I don't know if there is any team that's going to trade away a legit star for a draft pick. It has to be a team that's trying to go from middle of the pack to full rebuild? NY? Lakers? Brooklyn? These teams don't really have anybody that we would want though....

Lawson maybe if he doesn't get any more DUI's before then. It doesn't have to be a trade just for our pick, but more likely a package of multiple picks/player/s.

We already have Burke and Exum... I doubt another PG is on DL's radar....

Gobert is a lock at C, Favors at PF, PG is stacked.... I suspect we're on the look out for a legit/vet two-way wing to pair with Gordon (with Burks off the bench).

Unfortunately the only available ones are either too old (Joe Johnson, Pierce, Deng) or unavailable (Thompson, Kawhi, Butler).

Nah, if DL has an opportunity to upgrade Burke and that's our best option to add talent, he'll do it. They just gave Burks a significant contract, so I don't think it's likely they'll throw a bunch of money at someone to start in front of him. If Utah is really serious about winning next year, our biggest hole is at PG.

DL called Dante a placeholder in his last interview, so I think they realize they've jumped the gun a bit with him as a starter. Unless Dante makes a big jump by next year, Utah won't have a starting caliber PG, so they could definitely try to upgrade Burke and bring Dante off the bench. A serious upgrade at PG puts this team in the playoffs. I honestly don't think Dante is a player that will be upset about going back to the bench for a while, as long as he gets decent playing time between the pg/sg. He's a bit out of his element right now, and he seems to know it.

Anyway, I have no idea who Utah will go after, I just mentioned Lawson as a possibility of being available. He's signed for 2 more years, which could work out great.

QS's hair is being unfairly harsh at best and simply inaccurate at worst regarding DRussell. Says he hasn't showng up in big games. Vs #16 Maryland - goes for 18, 14 and 6. Vs #23 Indiana 22, 6 and 10. In a two point win over Northwestern (not really a big game, per se, but because it was a two point win, it was huge that Russell came up big) he goes for 33, 7 and 6.

On thing I really like about Russell, and it has been apparent in some of his poor shooting games is that even when he does shoot it poorly, he impacts the game in other ways - he recently went 4-13 FGs in consecutive games, but went for 6 rebs, 7 assists in one, and 5 rebs, 6 assists in another.

After seeing a few games from Booker I'm sold. He can do a little bit of everything. He plays big for his size. His J is wet. He can rebound, and defend. He is tough. He can slash, and move well without the ball. The kid is a young fresh face ready for prime time. Sign him up!

OK.

I've quickly gone through other teams' roster and I seriously couldn't pick out a vet/legit star that a team would be willing to trade away that won't impact on that team's performance, etc. Also we just don't have enough info - DL must get calls all the time about who's available for the pick that we have - so I guess we'll just have to wait and see around draft time about who might be available.

My take is though if we can grab one of Hezonja / Johnson, then we should just draft & develop them instead. They looked like they can contribute straight away instead of long term projects.

Why trade away our pick? We need a wing, this draft is deep on wings, lets draft a wing. Its not like were in title contention.

If we get OKCs pick in 2017, that gives us 3 first rounders in 2017, right? Isnt that a good draft? I think then would be high time to pick up a solid veteran.

Remember we still have the rights to Neto as well. Putting up pretty good numbers in Spain.
