What's new

Following potential 2015 draftees

ok let me chime in here

1st - vezenkov has an elite talent in shooting. he is extremely vertically challenged. if korver can make it in the nba vezenkov can. I think a stretchy 4 is ok but if he wants to survive in the nba he will have to transform himself into a 3. he plays with a lot passion and I like that. seems to have a good motor also. I like him a lot in the second round. perfect draft and stash player.

2nd - Johnson has a chance to slip because of his athletism. his stats seems to be coming back to earth lately. the one thing Winslow has going for him is nba athletism.

3rd - hezonja is one the best offensive talents in the draft. the big question marks are attitude issues and defense. I think he would fit great in Utah.

4th - Russell is ball dominate at osu and may not be that in the nba. he will go top 4 I guarantee it.

5th - a lot of things are going to change this month with march madness. not to mention measurements will be huge for players closely compared.

I don't think Vezenkov is going to guard 3s, or 4s either. He's a guy you have to hide defensively, but his quick release and shooting range make up for it. What do his rebound and steal numbers look like?

I'm just here drooling over Russell. We need to phone Cleveland and ask how they did it.

I don't follow the hornets but I would guess it's because he's playing behind Cody Zeller and just not getting enough playing time?

Strange why the Hornets would have drafted him and not developing him.

He got hurt and wasnt able to do the preseason routine with the team and really put him behind. The coaching staff is all about winning right now and he is too far behind to get minutes and be developed. Bad timing with an injury and the coaching staff thinks he is going to take awhile to develop. Plus Marvin Williams is getting the minutes he might have got when he was drafted.

Oh i see he got injured... poor guy.

That release is just so smooth and fast  Reminds me of Curry.

I can't see how Russell falls below the top 5. He's dramatically better than Brad Beal, and he can play either guard position.

Yep, defensively you have to hide him, but at the very least he seems to have the smarts and basketball IQ and will probably not have problems with rotations.

His rebounding is great. Right now he's 2nd in the Greek league in scoring and 4th in rebounding. Stats: 18.5 PPG, 7.9 RPG, 1.8 APG, 0.84SPG, 0.32BPG... that's in 32MPG.

PER36: 20.8 Pts, 8.9 Rbs, 2.0 Ast, 0.95 Stl, 0.36 Blk

I think this has been talked about else where, but what would it take to trade up for Russell? Or what would everybody be willing to give up for him?

I'd trade Burke, Hood (Though I'd be really sad), #11 pick, our 2016 first round pick (unprotected), 2017 Golden State pick, 2018 Thunder pick. I think the most likely team to trade with would be the 76ers...

I'm now going to make an effort to really like Stanley Johnson...

Edit: He doesn't shoot well enough to be what we need. Not sure if he can make himself a good shooter. Maybe.

I think I would give up all that.

I think the sixers should take it too. (We are probably giving up too much but sometimes you have to)

All it takes is Mudiay out playing him in workouts and a team falling in love with WCS... I think both ny and la could go with WCS.

Top 5 players dont have 1v1 tryouts.

He's neither... he's a 6'9'' stretch 4, with developing post game, who can rebound. He's not very athletic, but he is an efficient volume scorer(at least at the level he's been playing so far). He can possibly play 3, but I don't think he's fast enough to guard 3s in the NBA.

Edit: it's kind of weird for me to describe him as a stretch 4, because in Europe he does it all... He shoots off the dribble, midrange jumpers, 3s, he drives and posts up, he shoots turn around jumpers from the post, but I kind of see him as a stretchy 4 type on NBA level. It's hard to predict how he will translate in the NBA because he is not the most athletic guy on the floor even in his games in Greece, but he's crafty and smart enough to make it all work. If he can translate all he does well in Europe to the US, he'd be a steal in the second round. But that's really the reason he's a second round prospect - his athleticism and defense at the next level are under question.

edit2: BTW, Karasev was shooting 35-36% from 3 in Russia, and 42-44% from the field. Vezenkov is much better shooter than that. He shot 50/39/80 last season as an 18 year old and is shooting 53/43/74 this season on very high usage.

1 thing about the Greek league. Other than Olympiakos and Panathinaikos who figuratively and possibly literally represent the Greek billionaires who have never paid taxes in their whole lives, the rest of the Greek league is similar to the economic situation of the Greek government. And it shows in the talent that these teams attract nowadays.

This year's pick, next year's pick, Favors, and the city of Provo for Anthony Davis.

I would trade the whole roster minus Gobert and Hayward for AD. But the other team wouldn't do it :(
