What's new

Detroit Pistons @ Utah Jazz, 8pm Central Time

Why was he there? Really wish we hd him at numerous points in his career. In any case, about 12-13 years ago I heard some rumor either here or on JazzHoops about how Brent Barry hated the Jazz or something, but nobody ever elaborated on this though I think it had been referenced a couple times. Anyone have any clue?

On Twitter he was asked why he was there and his answer was "love hoops..."

Yep. The whole Jazz team impresses me. Case in point why Kanter needed to be moved...do you see how many times Favors and Gobert have to switch off and cover a wing? And they are very effective doing so. Favs has the speed to do it and Rudy maintains good position and then raises his skyscraper arms. Hood is also a much better defender than I thought he'd be.

The best thing about this team is no one takes games or even plays off. I don't think I have ever seen a team play like that except the 72 win Bulls team. It bodes well for the future.

You might be thinking of Jon Barry - he's hated The Jazz and their fans for years and makes no bones about it.

Yep was about to post the same thing, you're getting your Barry brothers mixed up.

Larry Miller told a story about one of the Barry brothers on the radio. One of them said something like "hey, my contract runs out this year" as he was walking past Miller's seat during a game (maybe during warmup). I was thinking it was Jon. Was there a 3rd Barry brother?

This was specifically Brent. Unless the people circulating it were confused, which is possible. However, there was no known Jon beef then and that came mostly with his broadcasting in later years.

Scooter.

Wasn't this actually Mikki Moore?

Locke had some stat recently saying the complete opposite - Trey's clutch shooting this year has been horrible(like in the 20s terrible), while Hayward's has been the best in the team. That said Hayward has been turning the ball over in end of quarters a lot.

Hmmm...could the Jazz have something in the works to move Trey this summer?
Wasn't Locke the one who pointed out Burke's "clutchness" in the last 5 minutes of games last season? Locke will come out with whatever stats fit the company line. It would be nice to have a completely unbiased, independent reporter but it just ain't gonna happen in Utah.

just watched the game... and holy crap that dante rundown on that loose ball. It's like he teleported over...

It WAS incredible. Hood had given up on the ball, too. Everyone but Dante just thought it would go out of bounds and the Pistons would inbound the ball. Then Dante sprints towards it and Hood realizes Exum actually MIGHT catch up to the ball, so he better go down too. Dante showed off his incredible speed on that play!

Yep, well said. And if a player doesn't hustle, Snyder will pull him. Doesn't matter who it is. Loved the pre-game clip of the interview with Quin when he said he's been harder on Rudy than anyone else lately. And that their relationship is going to get even stronger as Rudy does what Quin asks. Snyder was smiling the whole time he said it. There is definitely a lot of mutual admiration and respect, even WHEN Snyder brings down the hammer a few times in each game.

There are certain types of players/free agents who will NEVER want to play in Utah. But I think Snyder is quickly gaining a reputation of a player's coach. I can see players like Booker wanting to play for Quin, especially as we're making the playoffs each season (and I think we take that leap next year). I also see us at LEAST being able to hang on to our existing players. And I wasn't quite sure of that last season. I'm really not worried about Hayward opting out and leaving in 2 more years.

Rudy ran full court, too.

That Exum play was surreal. I went from thinking "There's no way he'll get it but awesome hustle!" to "Oh my God he might get it" to "OH MY GOD HE GOT IT"

It helped that Jackson decided to go guard Exum rather than the hoop too.
