Following potential 2015 draftees

I don't think that's a possibility. I think even being able to defend PFs is a question about him.

I really like what Porzingis can do. I worry that he won't rebound much and that will work against us (similar to Dirk who doesn't make much effort to rebound). I think he'll defend okay, but you normally don't want to concede rebounds from the PF position.

That's what makes Portis something of a value pick. He'll do the normal PF things and also step out to 20+ feet.

I have Johnson and Oubre rated quite closely, both behind Hezonja. The issue with Johnson is that he's not super quick for a wing, his shooting is flakey and his finishing around the rim is in the 50% range. Whereas Oubre is raw, inconsistent, but flat-out prototypical for a modern wing....with a wingspan longer than Paul George. It's going to come down to beauty in the eye of the beholder. Those two could be very close in the actual draft.

Johnson has a tonne more #Hunger though, and usually when 2 prospects are too close to call like that I take the one who's more hungry every day of the week.

Not buying that at all. Smacks of smokescreen.

I dunno, I mean are GMs in this league so gullible to read Chad Ford and take what he writes as Gospel? How much weight to these FOs put on his articles?

At the end of the day Ford's still employed by ESPN and his reputation is on the line as well.

You mean the reputation of doctoring his mocks after the fact? Yeah, smokescreens probably almost never have the desired effect, but that doesn't mean teams don't try everything they can to potentially steer another organization away from the player they want. If Oubre and Johnson end up getting drafted close together, I'll gladly eat crow, but for now, I'm extremely suspicious of any claims that suggest Oubre could be drafted ahead of Johnson. Only time will tell.

Well it seems like he has really stuck his neck out this time with regards to Johnson being a worse prospect than Looney. Like you said only time will tell and it's certainly gonna be pretty interesting.

Also isn't Chad Ford a well known Mormon? Would he do something so immoral, so publicly to boot?

Could what Lindsey say here apply to Oubre? If he truly believes this, it's not outside the realm of possibility that we could pick Oubre even though he had looked pretty average so far...

And then there’s a lot of interpretation on — we’ve seen it all the time where a guy may be in a program that’s hit tough times, maybe NCAA sanctions, and they decided to stay and the talent level surrounding them in the program is in transition, but yet they have a lot to offer. I tho–I think you saw a–saw that a little bit with Paul George in Fresno State. No one know–knew how to separate his individual performance along with middling results at Fresno.

And does this apply to Winslow/Johnson?

And so, and then you have the exact opposite, the, where there’s a particular system or coach that taps into everything a player can do. And what you see, there’s not going to be anything more from an upside standpoint. And so, the narrative, you know, behind each player needs to be different because of all those subtleties.

Again, you mean like altering his mock drafts after the fact to deceive people into believing something that wasn't true? Anyway, I'm not even saying Ford is intentionally putting out misinformation on players. I'm saying some of his sources feed him misinformation in an attempt to fool others into believing they aren't interested in a certain player. Let's call it misdirection.

Was going to post this, good post. Surprised we haven't talked about him at all.

He looks solid. Not a stellar athlete, but a solid and somewhat skilled 7-footer. He's got a good frame and okay length. He moves well. Looks like he'll finish okay around the rim. I'm not sure who to compare him to. I'm not sure he's the ideal starting center on a championship team, but he could be a decent back-up.

He'll be matching up against Okafor next, so lets see how that goes.

I mean we're talking about Kaminsky to be strictly a back-up so we have to throw Poeltl in there as well. It will be a fun game to watch!

I really like how hard Bobby Portis runs the floor. He passes well, goes after big boards and shoots it well. I feel like he's going to be a good blue-collar type of PF in the NBA.
