Following potential 2015 draftees

DX has released their full mock draft with pick-by-pick explanations about the picks. Both centers are taken before us, so they mock us taking Devin Booker:

The Jazz have built one of the most talented young rosters in the NBA, with an exciting blend of talented length and athleticism . Outside shooting has long been a priority of this new regime, and with that in mind, drafting one of the best shooters available in Devin Booker could make a lot of sense.
I wouldn't be totally opposed to it because I like Booker, but I think this would be a reach for us. With the players available at 12 in their mock I personally would pick Oubre.

Wouldnt be opposed to it. I see Booker being like a Marco Bellineli. Would be a great fourth wing off the bench and would add another dimension to our team.

I still like Looney. I think guys that can guard 3s and 4s are useful. Look at Draymond and Diaw. Also he can stretch it.

wow they also have the jazz getting Tyler Harvey in the second that would be a steal

Draft Booker this year, tank for Newman next year.

Newman - Hood - Booker

The Mississippi Marauders

Coming from some one a few minutes north of the MS border that would be an awful lot of MS's on one team. One thing is for sure we would not win any spelling Bs.

harvey is a first round talent and if the jazz drafted him in the second that is a steal. The dude is shooting 43% from 3. He is better then burke

Better than Burke? Highly unlikely.

I'll be blunt, if Burke played in the Big Sky Conference, he would've averaged 25+ ppg. What a horrible conference that is. Harvey is decent, but he's an early 2nd round talent in an average draft talent wise. He's definitely not better than Burke, and they also definitely play different positions.

So I totally forgot this until I looked at the DX mock, but Booker is only 18. Full year younger than Oubre. Not a huge difference, but definitely an impact on how I feel about him. I could get down with Booker, as long as we are patient with him.

I feel like the comp for Devin Booker is CJ McCollum, and that might be a bit generous given CJ's ball skills. Guy needs to shoot off the dribble and off the curl or he might have a hard time getting shots off. I know he projects to be a shooter, but I'd rather take Oubre. I don't think Booker will take minutes from Hood, tbh.

also going to take a long look at Myles Turner

Reminds me of the young project version of Jermaine O'Neal I once saw at the Rocky Mtn. Review. Maybe less explosive than JO. I like that he can shoot, but I don't like the way he settles for jump shots. It looks lazy to me.

Another old-school comp might be Sam Perkins--a guy who can shoot from distance and play PF/C with moderate mobility. I'm guessing that's the role Turner would play, though Turner can defend in the post.

We could do worse, I suppose.

He's more similar to Redick than McCollum, IMO. McCollum is an undersized two. Booker is a good sized SG who got good, productive minutes at the most talent filled team in the nation. Can't understate his IQ or maturity either.

I'm not sure with Oubre. Kansas seems to stifle wings offensively, and freshman rarely do extremely well there...I just feel like Booker is safer. I still like Oubre for where we are though.
