What's new

2015 NBA Playoffs

nothing to see in this finals

gs will crack pretty soon
cavs players have more grit and are better prepared as a team
kerr is not really the man to lead, he didn't do anything his hole life other than trying to find some warm places to build his career on
gs's bench may keep them alive for some time, but that will not last long

on this level it's not just the basketball skills

Here is where things get a little foggy for me... because somehow in the past season Golden State has apparently become beloved by the majority of this site.

....frankly, the only person associated with the NBA that true Jazz fanz despise.....is Dick Brevetta! We feel VERY STRONGLY that his bogus reffing in the 6th game of the Finals against the Bulls and Michael Jordan hosed our only chance at winning the title when we had Stockton and Malone at there peak! He took away one of our 3 pointers which had clearly beat the shot clock and gave the Bulls a 3 pointer which clearly came AFTER the shot clock expired! That 6 point swing was just too much for us to overcome against the likes of Jordan in his prime! Now other Jazz fanz might despise the Lakers, the Warriors and possibly a few other teams in our Conference. Personally, I'm more of a player "hater" than a team hater! For example, I can't stand J.R. Puke (Smith) nor did I care for Dennis Rodman! Can't stand the "Bird Man" either! Nor did I ever like Alonzo Mourning! I'm sure there are a few others who's names allude me at this time that would also make my list, but that should suffice for now!

yeah, nobody here knows basketball )

cavs in 5, gs are not that strong

...well, the last time Golden State was in the Finals, your head was probably the size of a grape! They were heavy underdogs against a well stacked team from Washington that boasted a couple of HOF guys, Elvin Hayes and Wes Unseld! The Warriors had a rag tag team of role players and a guy named Rick Barry! Washington got swept in 4 games! This Golden State team is similar in that they have Curry, (might be a better shooter than Rick Barry, before it's all said and done!) and a bunch of rag tag role players that know how to play the game! Kerr is an EXCELLENT coach, and knows how to win championships, (he's got what, 3 or 4 of them?) and knows how to pull the right strings to get the most out of his players! If the Cavs beat them in 4 or 5 games, it would surprise me to no end, as it would many other basketball "experts!" You would be one of the few "experts" that feel otherwise!

Warriors in 5. Curry gonna have field days against that turnstile Irving. Enough size to defend Lebron 100%. Terrible matchup for Cleveland

Doubt they Irving will guard Curry. Probably going to be Shumpert.

It will be interesting to see if Steph guards Irving though.

Cavs in 6 as Lebron destroys everyone.

if cleveland somehow beats warriors and bron looking like a supehero then i'm gonna seriously consider moving Bron to top 5 all time.

for now i have

1. MJ
2. Magic
3. kareem
4. russell
5. duncan
6. wilt
7. bron
8. shaq
9. bird
10. kobe
11. hakeem
12. oscar

and bron has a plenty of time to eventually be #2 all time.

Iguodala will shut Irving's overrated *** up if he goes off, no sweat. Trust, bro. Cavs simply do not stand a chance. It's about to be last year, round 2.

why bron > bird?

why bron > bird?

Bron beats him because at the end of the day, bird's career was cut short. bird's peak was ridiculous. we all know that. 84-86 bird was probably top 3 peak all time. imagine bird never had a problem. he would've played well till in his late 30's because he never really relied on his athleticism. but dude was a broken man.

bron's been on top longer and overall bron did more. We all know Bron isn't the greatest clutch player. But bron makes up for his overall impact to a team. Bron just makes everyone around him better.

this is no knock on Bird. if we are talking about pure peak value, bird is no doubt top 5 all time. but GOAT debate is more than just the peak value. it's the whole shebang.

i have no problem people saying bird > bron. most of them are 'peak value' guys. if that's the case then Shaq is absolutely top 4 all time. i can't find anybody having a better peak than shaq except jordan.

peak value

1. MJ
2. shaq
3. bird
4. wilt
5. hakeem

i think bron's peak was 2009-2013. he is still in his prime. i would say his prime lasts 4 more years. we are truly witnessing one of the greatest career ever in the nba. i fully expect bron to win at least 2 more rings. if i have to guess, bron will retire with 5 rings.

Duncan number 6? His peak value is very high in my book. I think he and Hakeem are interchangeable, though I'd probably put Duncan just ahead of him. Then again, I am just an uninformed child. I agree with Shaq's peak being #2. Dude was unstoppable.

....what records does Shaq hold? Championships? Not even close. Scoring titles? So far behind not even funny. Career points? Forgetaboutit! Total rebounds? Nope, Total blocks? Nope. He's got NOTHING career wise that warrants him being put in the top 10 let alone top 5! Oh, he might be close to total number of free throws taken....AND...then MISSED! Number of traveling violations not called by the refs? Top 5 for sure!

Peak Shaq bullied the league like the police bullies people of color - fatally. In particular, watch some Shaq highlights and peep his numbers from his 1999-2000 campaign. You're welcome.

You are, undoubtedly, the worst person in the world at understanding context.

Bird won rings 5 years apart. Bron been on top longer..?

How did you find this? This is absolute gold!

Shaq's Foul Shooting is so Bad that the NBA gave him 168 extra foul shots this pass season

( lane violations )

And he still shot .469% from the Foul line

Currently there is Not a Single Woman in the WNBA shooting under 53% from the Foul line

During the 2006 NBA Finals Shaq was 14 - 48 from the foul line

On December 8, 2000, Shaq set the NBA Record by taking 11 foul shots in one game and Not making any.

This is the only NBA Record Shaq Holds

In a December game against the Memphis Grizzlies Shaq was 2-8 from the Foul line . During one time out after a Shaq miss the Grizzlies ran a 10 year old child out to the foul line, who preceded to make 8 foul shots in a row.

Shaq is a JOKE
:D

i really can't fault bron for not winning with the cavs before he left. he really played with a mediocre roster. they weren't horribly bad, but they really weren't championship rosters either. and Bron's been the best player every year pretty much all his career except 3 seasons IMO. Bird was the absolute best player in 84-86. and was top 5 in most of the other healthy seasons. and that celtics roster was absolutely sick. yeah, it's not fair to fault bird, but that's the reality.

if bron retires after this season, then you probably have to flip a coin. bron did enough to be in the top 10 for sure. and you gotta choose what you want in a player.

bird
a better offense
much more 'playground' than bron ever was
more clutch
better shoooter
slightly better rebounder

Bron
he is the ultimate decision maker
more methodical approach
more complete (a better 2 way player)
has more responsibility

it's a very close debate now. but Bron has 7-8 years left in him. debate won't be close then. IMO, longevity is very important.
