Yeah agreed. I'm not willing to give up on Burks just yet.


This draft is loaded with PF/C who can shoot. We have to play to its strength, grab one of them and just be done with it.

At least he didn't pimp Randle as a sf, and a ton of people were pimping Gordon and Biyombo in their drafts. It wasn't like act was the only one, and it's not like Porter is a scrub either. I would still rely on act way before I listen to your crazy assumptions.
 
I think porter will be a very good role player but the problem with him is he isnt a great athlete. Same went for Evan Turner. They may have been the most skilled basketball players in their drafts but when they jumped into the nba, they just didnt have the athletic ability to pull off what they could in college. Thats what worries me about Frank and D Russ. Not saying theyll flop but it is a concern.
 
Then you get guys like Paul George and Kawhi who looked pretty raw in college and get them coached up and you see what happens. I totally get what lindsay means when he says he looks for fiber and hardworking nature. Combine that with his track record of drafting for physical prowess (rudy and kawhi) and you might have something.

Still like Aaron Gordon a lot, but I'm SO glad the Magic jumped that gun and gave us Exum. I'm hoping that Gordon proves to be as good of a defender as I thought he'd be.

Not so high on Porter or Portis. Porter has a hard road living up to his draft position, and I'm just not sold on Portis being anything more than Trevor Booker - lite.

But I guess, to each their own. Jazz should end up with a decent player to add to the rotation whether they trade up or stay put at 12. I'm pretty confident that player is not Bobby Portis. The Jazz need shooters desperately, and while Portis does have desirable traits, having major questions about his shot is going to push him down. Period.

Or if your top need is a perimeter defender. He's going to have a role in the NBA. Outside of the top 10, it seems like the options have one really good NBA skill, but are lacking in other areas.

Who fixes what? RJH fixes his shot? Frank fixes his defense?
 
Porter played great in the playoffs. I cant wait to see how he does next year. Is playoff wittman real? Hes like the Kaiser Soze of nba coaches.

You hated on Hezonja in 2013, how has that worked? is everyone catching on to the selfish play you warned us about yet??? How about Kristaps Porzingis, you didnt think he was 1st rd grade last year.

you were high on Porter but bashed Shabazz Muhammad to make your point... who posted a 20 PER this and 39% from 3, including a few big games.

The fact that you're so focused on Portis is hilarious. Right up there with Zach LaVine being 2nd rd material..



I suppose you think Bobby Portis(31' vert) is a better athlete and shooter than Noah Vonleh(37" vert) though right... :cool: this dude cy isnt consistent with these prospects, just chooses favorites.
 
I agree that it's risky & an overpay. I also agree that Burks could wind up as good as Hezonja, but the reason I'd do that deal is fit. Burks is likely a solid 6th man scorer who is limited defensively. Hezonja, imo, not only has the potential to be an elite shooter & scorer, but also has the potential to be at worst an above average defender. He does have some risk, but if we are ever going to become a championship caliber team, I believe that we will need another scoring threat alongside Hayward. Hood could become that guy (or at least close to it), & Burks is a very good scorer in his own right, but he needs the ball in his hands to do so (which makes him a poor fit alongside Hayward imo) & while he improved last year, he will never provide the level of 3 pt shooting that is necessary in a lineup of Exum, Hayward, Favors, & Gobert. Imo, this makes him a 6th man on the roster, & while I am hopeful that Hood eventually becomes that 5th starter, I think it makes more sense to double down (while also adding insurance in the event that Hayward opts out in 2 years & leaves or isn't worth the full max) than to settle for a complementary backup. I understand being reluctant to take what could be a step back & #12/Burks/Booker for Hezonja/McRoberts is an overpay, but I look at is as trading three likely (depending on the draft pick) role-players for two (current) role-players (1 of which has the potential to become an elite scorer). I like Burks a lot & think he could be a great 6th man, but we were successful without him & while Booker did contribute to that, McRoberts should be able to do so as well.

I understand not wanting to take a step back or overpay, but swapping a 6th man & probable backup (which is what our options currently appear to be at #12) for a player that has the type of potential that Hezonja has could be the difference between winning a title & falling just short as we have in the past. Also, I don't know DEN's cap situation, but even tho I think Burks' contract will eventually become a steal with the cap increase (as will McRoberts'), if the Nuggets could take his salary it would give us a lot of options in FA & the ability to fill the need that we would likely be drafting at #12 (backup big) as well as other holes. It's a risk worth taking imo.

Sounds like oubre could be the steal of the draft then...... If the right coach, team, culture can light a fire in him.
