Okur is out for at least next three weeks and will not travel with team during interim.

Jazz's Okur saw back specialist today, confirming inflammation of chronic disc problem. Will begin rehab and be re-evaluated in three weeks.

Okur was evaluated by back specialist Monday in SLC. Will begin rehab with team, which will take at least three weeks.

Okur, these are all signs that you just need to call it good and walk away.

So much for Memo coming back to strengthen our playoff run...Come on KOC, pull the trigger on a trade!

Hearing about any NBA player who would give up that type of money to help their team is pretty much unheard of.

Okur gave it a go...and for that I will always be a fan of his. Dude had heart.

Trying to come back from that achilles injury and Im sure favoring one leg over the other does not bode well for someone with previous back injuries...

Feel bad for him.

And give up nearly $11 million? Yeah I wouldn't either.

Not in the NBA. Contracts are guaranteed. Memo will get the $11 million even if he retires. Jazz have some InCaseShit policy on it, but probably not the entire amount.

The thing that sucks is the money still counts against the cap/tax (see Harpring trade).

I like Okur. But they need to shut him down, not pretend he's going to try to work back into the rotation in 3 weeks. Just put him on a slow program designed to have him in top shape coming into camp next season. Who knows what that will do but it's the best chance to get some value out of him.

Okur just seems to me like another "jackpotter" in the long list of "jackpotters" this team has had throughout it's storied history.

GO UTAH JACKPOTTERZZ!

A 7 footer who is:

- on the wrong side of 30
- has chronic back problems
- and is coming off a torn achilles.

Yup, sounds like a Utah Jazz Center.
