Following potential 2015 draftees

Didn't really hear much about Portis - unless I missed something. He's been under the radar for the Jazz. So he's my surprise pick. Great size for his position and decent range. Plus the fact Booker will be an UFA after the season.

I don't think Utah really feels the urgency to get a backup 5 because Favors can/will fill that role. In fact, I think finding a PF is the preferable scenario. Then we'd have a legitimate outside threat playing with either Gobert or Favors for 30 mins. There would only be about 18 minutes of Gobert and Favors playing together each game.

BTP - thanks for refuting the articles (to some degree) that gave me pause with Porzingis. There's a lot I like about him still, but I think I'd gamble on Turner instead. But Porz probably won't be there at 12 anyway. Turner might. But I hope the Jazz trade up a tad to be sure they get him.

Otherwise, I think I like Looney. But what's the question marks with him? What are his weaknesses etc that have him falling to the mid teens - early 20s?

There might be concerns about his health (asthma) and how that might affect his ability to workout and develop his athleticism.

I like Looney though and think he's a real possibility at 12.

I like these last few days before the draft. All the workouts are completed and now the rumours are going crazy.

A fly through twiterverse says....

Knicks looking to move their pick.

Sacramento George Karl says they'd rather have two players than a guy at 6, because the guy at 6 probably won't play a lot.

Russel says he doesn't want to play for Philly.

Heard from some teams that they think there is a lot of value in the middle, the second round isn't very promising.

Lakers trying to trade up from 27.

Pistons may trade their No.8 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft sportando.com/en/usa/nba/164…

Yes, got to love people who know nothing. He has been playing on a high level team in Spain (best domestic league in Europe) for the last two years and probably would have been selected in the late lottery last year.

There is absolutely no question that the Porz hype has gone off the rails after his open court video. Anybody who has watched him play in actual games should know that he isn't nearly the player some are making him out to be, at least not yet.

Yeah, we should probably only draft guy's who really want to play in Utah. I hear there's a guy late in 2nd round that kinda likes to ski. Let's trade down for him.

The Jazz have always traded anyone who shows any remote signs they don't like it here. Ask DWill and Enes Kanter. It makes perfectly sound sense they view a workout refusal as such a sign given his realistic draft range.
The Jazz will not draft Frank Kaminsky.

I just watched the Porz workout videos, looks better than expected. Seem's like he's got a low center of gravity for someone 7'1", no?

Exum said he didn't want to get drafted here. How'd that work out?

He never said that. He never worked out for us but was never lower than 4 on any draft board.

The only thing I remember was that Exum said LA would be ideal for him. He wasn't bagging on other cities.

You look at Russell, and he probably wants to go to NY or LA for marketability.

Yep, any prospect is going to say this. Their endorsements could end up being more than their rookie contract.

The idea that Utah should only draft guys who want to come to Utah is laughable. Hell, even Jimmer wanted NY over Utah. Utah is not a preferred destination among NBA players, and that's just the way it is.

Tell me how the situation with Frank is any different. Enlighten me.

Well for one Frank is working out for teams picking after us. Exum did not. They have plenty of front court depth as well in Len and the Morris brothers.
I don't know what kind of sign you want lol. He isn't going to come out on twitter and say "**** Utah", but his actions speak loud enough.

Kakminsky knows he's not going to get time ahead of Favors or Gobert. It's not that he's a snob from Madison, Wisconsin.

Exactly. It's pretty common for players to want to avoid being drafted where the situation isn't ideal, but some people blow that out of proportion. If Utah passed on Frank, it will be because they like another player more, not because he doesn't like us enough.
