What's new

Utah Jazz vs. Boston Celtics July 6th, 2015 7 PM Mountain Time *Official Game Thread for SL*

I used to sprain one of my ankles all the time. It doesn't affect confidence or explosion. It just sucks that it can be easier to roll the same ankle again. Knee issues can kill explosion however. I never got up the same after I had a minor meniscus tear.

I was talking about his mouth breathing, bro. Super worried about it.

you are officially the first man I've ever known who has never sprained an ankle. I'm being dead serious.

Do you ask Everyman you know if they have the ankle sprained? I think that might be awkward to ask everyone. I guess.

I sprained my ankles a quite a few times playing bball but always just walked it off. If you get off your feet immediately your ankle tends to swell but by keeping pressure on it and keep them moving it keeps the swelling down. Of course it depends on how severe of a sprain it is.

I hate it when you are just walking along not even playing a sport or anything and you step in a hole in the grass, or on uneven ground, and wham! Ankle sprain.

Thanks god. You could have designed the ankle better.

I gotta say, it's nice to see the Jazz get some positive pub during the summer like this. Good turn out at the arena. Nice to see guys like Antoine Carr, Rudy, Alec, etc. supporting. It's been a while since the Jazz were a proud franchise.

Gobert, Burks, Neto, Millsap, Booker, Memo, Carr, Sloan, Johnson, Boler and Boone were all in attendance/working. Good to see past and present support these guys.

DL and Snyder returning the pride to Utah ;)

Don't know if it's already been brought up in this or any other thread, but Rodney Hood looks taller than 6'8". I was at the game and was surprised to see him in person. I think he's grown. Is it just me? He looks 6'9".

Was just putting it out there haven't had a sprained ankle before.

Envy. Lots of it. I played a lot of basketball to lose the 80lbs. Over that course I sprained my right ankle twice and left ankle once. The very first one on my right took 1.5 weeks to be able to even limp on, whole foot was swollen with blood, colored black and purple

I think another thing that helped me was being mindful. Previously as a buddhist (when I was younger) I did a lot of sitting meditation (sitting on a zafuton, eyes closed, following each breath for 20-30 min straight). It can help to improve focus, concentration and in times of distress helps with relaxation.

To apply that to your daily life and activity you can try something like walking meditation which requires you to be presence and and keep your mind focus on the act of walking, feeling everything around you, focussing on each step, being presence instead of mindlessly getting from A to B.

Mindfulness practice is being used quite a bit now in mainstream medicine in improving physical and mental health as well, google it if you're interested or if you have any questions let me know :)

I actually am getting into meditation right now, have you heard of float spas? it's like cheating meditation for noobs. Yeah, I worked a lot on my footwork while playing ball and I haven't rolled an ankle for a long time, guess I learned from my mistakes. I was going to school for computer programming and after going through that life change with the weight and spirit, I'm starting over and heading for a degree in sports science, emphasis on injury prevention. I'm actually looking to hop on as an assistant coach somewhere in Saint George, but all spots are covered ATM.
