Let's face it, while there are of course some exceptions, black basketball players are often smoother athletes than white ones. If Babbitt had the athleticism of say Paul George, he'd be a very high pick. He'd probably be an Evan Turner.
Having said that, if the Jazz can't move up to take a chance on somebody like Cousins, I'd be okay with Babbitt. A 20ppg scorer shooting 50/40/90 is nothing to sneeze at. But, I'd be concerned with his defense. Poor defense and he could end up being another Quincy Lewis (who was also a good college scorer and happens to be black).
The Jazz have been rather predictable in past drafts and even rumored trades (right off, I can think of the Stevenson and Brewer trades as ones rumored before they happened) and so I think there's a good chance they'd reach for Babbitt at 9.
Which could also mean there may be something to that rumored 'other pick' they're supposedly also looking for later in the draft. That could be for a consolation big -- Sanders or Alabi or that level; in that case, I just hope they don't get (okay I'll say it) another white stiff.
