Summer 2015: FIBA games of Utah Jazz players

Argentina vs Mexico going down to the end. Mexico looks like they should win. Interesting to see what the semis will be if this holds true.

Mexico wins. Semis are Canada vs Venezuela and Arg vs Mexico. Winners will go to the Olympics.

Gustavo Ayon with a huge game. Not sure why he is not in the NBA.

Tomorrow's games

Germany vs Spain 945MT. Most likely unless Germany can shock Spain Germany and Dirk's last game.
Israel vs France 1MT Israel has been playing quite well so this is most definitely not a gimee for France. Casspi and Mekel lead Israel.
Serbia vs Italy 6:30 MT. Italy could actually win the group with a W but I think they have expended to much energy in their games to beat the best team of the tournament so far.
Czech Republic vs Lithuania This is for the winner of the group. Czechs have been playing surprisingly good with Lithuanians have struggles. Satoransky to Vesely has been deadly this tournament.
Only two teams Iceland and Russia are definitely out so tomorrow could get pretty wild.

He had a shoulder injury his final year in Atlanta. Briefly rumored that SA was interested in him, but nothing came of it last year. He's a little long in the tooth (30 years old) and commits a lot of fouls per 36.

*FT%

15th is interesting considering Burks who got to the line at a real solid rate before injury missed a ton of the year and Exum almost never went to the line. I'd love to see us crack the top 10 in free throw attempts and the top 18 in % this season. That would mean a couple more points per game and could equate into 1-3 more wins.

Thanks for the correction. Also, Burks is a much better FT shooter than Millsap and Cotton is much better than Exum was. So Utah's FT% should increase just based on minutes going to better shooters.

Another frustrating loss for team Russia...they deserved the win tonight against France. They lost 4 tight games.

France won the game with Lauvergne determining offensively in the 4th quarter. Gobert had a good game but he showed his offensive limits.

That's the thing with Fiba ball : player movement and rim attacking are not encouraged by the set up : ball movement and shooting is at a premium. There is a reason why technically savvy stiffs are excellent in a Fiba environment but struggle in the NBA : players like Antoine Rigaudeau were FIBA legends but sucked in the NBA, greek gods like Spanoulis and such... Lauvergne is far from being a stiff though, but Gobert's game doesn't translate "that well" to FIBA ball. Sure defensively he is a freak and still has massive impact, but the whole "De Andre Jordan offensive skillset" is less interesting, whereas a 5 who can shoot (and even better when he can shoot the 3 !!!) is extremely helpful. This is why losing Ajinca sucked for the french team, because his offensive skillset would have been very very helpful and would have stretched the floor for the rest of the team. This also illustrate why a playe like De Colo is being very efficient whereas more nba typed "rim attacking" players like Fournier and even Parker (although he is becoming less and less of a rim attacking player) aren't being as efficient.

Still Lauvergne did make a bloody big difference offensive at the end of the game, there is no denying it, and it doesn't take anything away from Gobert's defensive game changing abilities

Nice. I'm hoping Hayward gets to the line a little bit more (like 0.5-1.0 more times) and that Favors does as well.

Big match in 1 hour....Spain vs Germany!

If Spain loses they are out from the round of 16 and it would mean no Olympic Games in Rio!

It will be interesting to see Pleiss defending Gasol.

Nah only a loss with 48 means they're out definitely.
If Turkey loses to Iceland, a 3 way tie is possible, that Germany wins as soon as they win with 17 or more.

(Not that I think it's realistic, just showcasing the possibilities)

On the other hand, if both Spain and Turkey win we have another 3 way tie, in which Spain is 2nd with (+27; -7) +20, Italy is 3rd with(-2 ; +7) +5 and Turkey is 4th with -25(+2;-27)

If I'm not wrong the head-to-head results count first! So Turkey has already 2 wins, Spains has two wins now and Germany one.

If Turkey beats Iceland they will have 3 wins. If Spain loses against Germany they will be tied with them with two wins and they will be out definitely.

Did you read the part where I wrote: If Turkey loses vs Iceland?

Game was entertaining though. That next German generation will be interesting to watch. In 5-6 years, when Schröder's in his prime, Pleiß around 30, and prospects like Hartenstein and Mushidi being old enough.
