What's new

Jazz @ Suns Fri. Oct. 9th at 8pm MDT

Damn it. Why did Exum have to blow his ACL?

I hear ya - As of right now, Pleiss is not an NBA player, Cotton is not an NBA player, Neto looks like a 3rd string PG on a decent team and Lyles might be better off spending a good chunk of the season in the D-League.

Not much help coming from the new guys at all.

After the 1st Qtr you could pretty much have turned off the game. Other then a few individual nice plays here and there the Jazz as a team played like meth'd out crack whore ***, flat, stinky, weak and hopeless.

Maybe it was good this game wasn't broadcast on TV.

Funny if Burke would've played tonight all the hate and ire and blame would be piled on him, probably good Snyder held him out.

It was probably because they spent an extra day in Hawaii and flew in late to Phoenix.

Positive spin

It looked to me like Snyder was purposefully making players uncomfortable in the second half. That's how you grow and it's the best way for him to see who will step up. It seemed like he pulled Hood in the 3rd because he was creating his own shots. It seemed like he was challenging Favors, Booker, Milsap to do the same. I think Snyder got some good film tonight that he can use to better our players games.

Hood seems pretty effective coming off the bench. He can take his time and create with the ball in his hands.

I think Burke/Burks/Hayward/Favors/Gobert are the starting five.

I'm not a big fan of Trevor Booker, either offensively or defensively. Or rebounding the ball... There just isn't much there.

Probably our backcourt needs revamped.

I am happy that I don't draw any major conclusions from games that involve a lot of experimenting with new lineups and sets. I am also happy that I expected significant growing pains from our new guys.

Otherwise this would be pretty devastating.

So what did we learn from this game tonight? Either one or both of the following:

1. The Jazz ran out of gas in the 2nd half, probably still jet-lagged from the Hawaii trip.
2. The Lakers are really, really, really bad.

Note to the Jazz: Next time Gordon invites you to train with him in Indy, you should go.

Hood did and he's looking good.

Brandon Knight shot 3/10 tonight. At least 2 of his buckets came against Bryce Cotton in the 2nd half. I think all 3 did, tbh...meaning, he was something like 3/4 against Cotton and 0/6 against everyone else.

Raul Neto also got crossed up and scored on by Ronnie Price.

Also we need guys who will shoot a lightly contested 3 pointer. Everyone just gives a half-assed pump fake and drives into bodies. B

Devin Booker doesn't play any defense. Hood scored on him easily when he attacked him. Ball didn't touch Hayward's hands when Booker was on him for a couple possessions. I would have liked to see the Jazz attack him more when he was in. The offense just looked like crap tonight. But that's what the preseason is for I guess.
