Jabari Parker vs Rodney Hood

Hood is a future allstar, he's already scoring at will. He can pass, he can shoot, he has great court vision and basketball IQ.

Parker we don't know yet, we have to let him come back from injury first.

I agree that Hood could turn into something really special. I'm struggling to think of a player that looks so poised on the court.

Hood is going to blow up. Only reason he won't be a serious candidate for MIP is that he is a soph.

Jabari is a special player. If he can stay healthy he will be a consistent all-star. Hood is a really good player, that was overlooked in the draft.
He won't sniff an all-star game though except this year ROOK/SOPH exibition.

Not so quick son...

can you even imagine teh awesomeness if Jabari and Burke teamed up??

All I can say is when I watched Duke games to watch Jabari, Hood stood out every time. Honestly, the jury is still out. Parker's been hurt and Hood has shown great promise. As an all around player I pick Hood, and Jabari will be a Carmelo-type scorer at best.

I agree. I remember watching some of those Duke games and kept thinking, who is this Rodney Hood guy? I almost liked him better than Parker. I'll take Hood over Parker at Hood's position in the draft any day!

Hood is full of nasty?

You don't see it? Dude is unafraid, and has very few real holes in his game. He will take it into the tall pines, drill it from outside, and makes it look easy. That type of coolness and smoothness isn't natural, Kobe had to work on it for years when he got into the league and it was painful to watch. Hood does it like it ain't no thing. If he was in a larger media market, he would be a sensation. Being "nasty" doesn't mean you are an a-hole like Cousins, it means you are cold blooded, which Hood is.

Agreed! I love his maturity on the court. Confident. Solid. Just the kind of foundational type guy to team up with our other pillars.

The thing that excites me the most about Hood is that I have no idea what his ceiling is. He has no serious deficiencies, and a whole lot of strengths. And he seems to have the work effort needed to really bring out the strengths even more. I see the Blazers version of Wes Matthews as being his floor. I can see him being an "almost all star". I can also totally seem him becoming a legit all star. I can also see him becoming a DOMINANT all star. I just have no idea how good he can be, at this point.

Absolutely. Crazy to think he could become dominant but he is just that smooth.

Acl are fully recovered, no long term physical impact. Only effet could be mental.

so you're saying it helps? Bare minimum: even if 100% healed, the player takes approximately 1 year off of real basketball. So, let me ask you, does this help a player?

Also, can you please provide a link to study that says 100% of ACL surgeries result in 100% recovery? tia

^strong commitment from this guy^

Win close to 50? Lose close to 50? Who knows.

Locke has been quick to point out recently that the bucks are roughly 10-20ish since trading for mcw last year. Although Parker could have an impact on that

I don't understand the trade of Knight either but the Bucks have now added into the mix Jabari Parker and Greg Monroe. They have a good team and a surprisingly good coach.

Bucks effed up their chemistry and will miss the playoffs this year #hottake. Removing good vets like Zaza, Dudley, and Illyasova (and Knight if you want to count him) for flawed players like MCW and Monroe will prove to be a bad deal long term.

Hood is better than Parker. I understood the love for Jabari, but I worry he will never be in good enough shape to have a long career. He's also now had two serious injuries... one in hs and one last year. I would not trade Hood for Parket straight up which I think might be crazy, but i see great things with Hood.

The thing that is impressive about Hood to me is that he can get good shots when he wants to almost all the time. Gordon took a big step in this last year, but hasn't looked great at it this year. Hood does it deliberately and in a variety of ways. Great in pick and roll and on the drive. He has been better finishing at the rim this year too.

the player he most reminds me of is Brandon Roy. Think Hood could be a better scorer and Roy the better passer.

I actually think that Hood's floor is Jeff Hornacek. Put him on a bad 76r's team, he could be first option and all-star, but ultimately that isn't the best use of his game. He's the type of steady hand that, on a solid team, wins playoff games and can stop and start runs. Hopefully he is more, but a taller more athletic Jeff Hornacek certainly doesn't suck.
