David Price to the Red Sox for 7 years/$217 million

Jordan Zimmerman got 5 year/$110 million from the Tigers the other day.

The spending has begun! Discuss

The Twins have officially struck a four-year, $12MM deal with Korean first baseman Byung-ho Park that includes a $6.5MM club option ($500K buyout) for the 2020 campaign. Minnesota will pay Park $2.75MM annually for the deal’s first two seasons and then $3MM apiece in 2018 and 2019.

Park, 29, is a client of Alan Nero and Octagon Baseball. A deal was said to be highly likely as he traveled to the U.S. this week. Minnesota had won the rights to negotiate with the KBO star after promising a posting bid of $12.85MM to his now-former club, the Nexen Heroes. The Twins’ total commitment, then, will be just under $25MM.

That's a lot of money for a pitcher who is famous for being awful in the playoffs.

I just really hope the Astros get a legitimate 1st baseman, some heat in the bullpen, and continue to call up their minor league talent.

Kenta Maeda officially hits the market today. Giants expected to make a major push. Maeda's friends say he'd prefer the west coast.

Starlin Castro is going to the Yankees, according to @Joelsherman1. He said the deal isn't finalized, pending medical reviews.

To get Starlin Castro from the Cubs, the Yankees parted with Adam Warren and a player to be named.

As a Yankee fan, I like this deal. Perhaps he can give us some more consistency at 2nd Base.

Regardless, I LOVE that the Yanks are not setting themselves up to be destroyed by large contracts in the future. We'll lose 2 huge contracts right when Bryce Harper becomes a free agent... which is fabulous!

Yeah, the Yanks got over on this trade. The Cubs did it for salary reasons, and to clear way for Zorbrist.

I''m guessing you don't want them to trade the farm for Jose Fernandez?

What do u think of the Braves Haul for Miller? Miller and Zach Grenchi could be a damned good 1-2 punch for Ari, but they gave up a ton to get him including the 2015 #1 pick in Swanson.

I'd say it was an overpay. If they get the immediate returns their looking for though, they wont care.

Can u tell me anything about Swanson's game? Don't know much about him other then he was the first pick in 2015.

Diamondbacks got a good one in Miller. He had a breakout season last year. Easily the braves best pitcher. Was a class act too.

Will be interesting to see how all these young arms in the braves farm system develop.

I don't.

Maybe I'm unrealistic, but we have a bunch of quality arms already. I like him, I do. But I'd rather keep the stuff we have in the pipeline and go with the excessive number of arms we have, even with trading Andrew Miller away.

Yeah I saw him play a few times because I try and catch the College World series/playoffs every year. He's more of a doubles hitter than homeruns. He's above average at everything, not crazy spectacular. He's solid though. He's fast and a great fielder.

I wouldn't have taken him 1st but I don't this sorta stuff nearly as well as basketball.

SELF CORRECTION:

They didn't trade Andrew Miller. Duh.

They traded Justin Wilson. The OTHER hard throwing left-hander on the roster. :)

Wait, wasn't Castro terrible last year? Isn't he one of the worst defensive infielders, or am I thinking of someone else?

He had a bad year at the plate last year, but normally he does pretty well.

He also was being used at SS (and didn't do a good job), but as soon as they moved him to 2B after bringing up the new guy his defense got a lot better. Go figure.

Jason Heyward signs a monster deal with the Cubs.

@GDubCub
Heyward deal less than $185m. Believed to be eight years.
