What's new

GT: Jazz @ Super Sonics | 12/13/15 | 5pm MT

I was watching the game on delay, so not sure what has been said, but I blame the loss 100% on Hayward throwing the ball to OKC fans with 1 sec left in regulation. This game shouldn't have gone to OT, at all. When it went to OT I went and poured myself a shot (or two) and prepared myself for what I ended up seeing. You don't want to go to OT against a home team that made a comeback to force it. Especially not a team with two of the best players in the NBA on the roster.

I want to puke.

Did you write this in 2013?

This was the year to turn the corner. Now it's next year? Year after that?

I can't speak for dalamon but I see this year as a 44 win season and a playoff birth and hopefully one playoff game win.

I see next season (with Exum back, our core more developed (Lyles most of all), two 1st rounders in the fold, and perhaps the acquisition of a better backup 5 as a season in which 50-53 victories, and a playoff series win, is a tangible goal.

Then, I see the 2017-2018 season as our legitimate first shot at a let's ****ing go for it all season. Come playoff time that season, Hayward will still only be 28, Favors 26, Burks 26, Gobert 25, Exum 22, Hood 25 and Lyles 22.

Again Hayward would be our oldest player at 28 years of age.

Lebron won his first title at age 27 I believe.

We're right on track.

You expected the Jazz to pull out all of these close wins against elite teams this year? Without Gobert for a lot of them and without Exum for all of them?

The Jazz are still the 4th youngest team in the league bro.

some of these posts are straight embarrassing. We didn't even make the playoffs last year, and ppl wanna shut down a full-strength OKC in their barn

The sooner Snyder realizes the ball needs to be in Burks hands at the end of games, you will see this team win games like this more times than not.

I'm good with Hayward but he has to either take the shot or do an insider dish. Not cross court in the stands :)

With that said, as the OKC announcers said, we lost this game at the FT line....

the year to turn the corner? Sorry dude. You need to lower your expectations. Hayward's contract year is the year where we expect at least a 2nd-round run, wth hopes making it to the conference finals.

Even before Dante, this was the year we figure out what we have with our roster. Do Rudy and Derrick fit together long-term? Is Booker our answer at the back-up 4? How does Trey Lyles fit in our long-term vision? Can Burke excel in the backup PG role? Can Hood, Burks, and Hayward coexist? What are our roster needs? By that point in time, many of our players will be sufficiently nurtured, and grown. THey'll know their roles, we'll have roster continuity, chemistry, and it'll be easy to accommodate new talent. There is question mark after question mark with this team.

Next year is the year we ****ing go for it, for obvious reasons. For one, it'll be hard to convince Hayward to re-sign if we don't. That's when we make a splash in FA to go for a PG, or a very good 3rd big.

Yeah, next year...

or the year after,

or the year after that,

or... **** it, this team will know how to win in 2035.

Favors and Hayward are NOT ROOKIES! They are NBA veterans. The excuses are getting old.

think about how he feels, now. If you don't think he'll come back stronger, and improve, then you haven't been following his career.

If you deny his talent, then forward your opinions to literally every team's star player who gives him a solid greeting of mutual respect after the games (Durant, George, Lebron, Kobe. etc.)

what did he say?

When asked is this was a crushing defeat or something to that effect he said we need to not be overly melodramatic about this loss and keep perspective of who we are as a team and understand the process of becoming a great team. He mentioned he was happy with the effort overall but we just ran out of gas at the end.

Did you finish your mental growth at age 20? Jesus christ dude. Basketball isn't 100% physical.

we are so blessed to have him and Dennis. Now imagine if one of our village idiots ran the ship.

Hayward is 25 years old. Lebron didn't win his first title until he was 27. Settle the **** down people. The loss blows. We all get it. But we're clearly making strides.

It will be difficult for the Jazz to make the playoffs if they don't make a trade to improve this roster. Phoenix, Portland, Denver, Minnesota and Sacramento they will all fight for the 8th seed. There are too many teams that aim at the 7th and 8th seed. Jazz roster is not better than most of these teams, let's be realistic.

I'm still onboard for this season. I'm not giving up. But this should have been a ****ing win.
