Derrick Favors + Alec Burks + 2 1sts

Paul George

Exum
Hayward
George
Lyles or FA
Gobert

(tons of small-ball combinations)

Indy has raced into the middle of nowhere and has aging pieces.

Question: are people that would co-sign on trading Favors more concerned that Favors' back is going to be a chronic issue, or are people more sold on Lyles?

I'm not even close to being sold on Lyles (although I like him). And I would jump on NAOS' trade without a second thought, regardless of Favors' injury history. Favors is a nice player, but George is an MVP candidate. I think Indy hangs up the phone.

for me, I'm just concerned that we're going to treadmill as presently constructed. I'd live with Hayward or Favors getting traded if it brought back a player on the next tier.

And I'm bored right now.

Pretty much this. Why does Indy do this?

Good post.

Only way Indy trade PG is they go into full rebuild mode and they know he wont come back. And if that was the case, it isn't, than the Pacers would get more than Favors, Burks and 2 1st for him IMO.

I would do the trade but I think it is a little risky and more fair (to Indiana) than is getting credit for.
I think what we would give up is a little underrated (assuming favors is healthy)

Burks=fifty cents
Favors=75 cents
2 first rounders=fifty cents

For

Paul George=one dollar

I do the trade because like naos said, we really need a player that's a level above Hayward and even without Burks, favors, and the draft picks we still have allot of good pieces left (gobert, hayward, hood, exum, lyles).

On paper though we would be giving up a pretty good haul and if things break right (Burks and favors stay healthy and have not hit their ceiling yet, the draft picks turn out to net good players) the jazz could be better off keeping what they have and spending big on a free agent next summer.

That's allot of ifs though. I would do the trade.

They have very good contracts. But Indy will want the entire farm if they trade PG.

Then they're delusional. For Burks, Favors and two firsts I would rather wait until the season ends and throw all the money in the world at Durant.

Who you can guarantee will say no (because half the league can do the same, and OKC can offer more [and have a better team]).

I think the biggest thing is the known quantities the Jazz are sending out are about the same age as PG. Why trade PG to rebuild with players the same age?

OKC has less FA money than us. The Jazz are one of the best positioned teams in free agency as we have one free agent - Booker - and almost $32,000,000.

IAWTP

I wrote a whole pgph on why the Jazz were better staying put, but with homer glasses off, I have to say do it. I don't think it makes us a contender, but it does improve. I would be most excited about him being a great 2-way player and furthering our quest for length.
