I have a lot of near relatives who have some pride in being somewhat "black". four interracial marriages in the family. Within both sides of my family, there are Korean, Chinese, Filipino, Mexican, and several tribal members. When I see people obsessed with race issues, I really wonder what planet they are on.
There are JF members who play the bully in here on people who won't just cave to their point of view, and I think there's been more pure hatred vented towards me in this forum than I've experienced in my whole life. People sending PMs to declare their hatred, stuff like that.
And then there's the immature sorts who just don't have the social skills or mental wherewithal to just listen to another point of view.
Yah, I play a sort of rhetorical game in here. I think some would rate it as some kind of "troll" in the meaning of fishing for bites on a discussion, but actually I look for good responses that deserve some respect especially if the point is different from mine.
Yah, there are some residues of older fashions of racial identity and purely ignorant folks all around, and cops who are scared of big black guys running away in the dark. But what I've seen is a lot of people of any race can make a good show in life by just respecting others and maybe reaching out a little to show understanding for people who lack whatever it takes to be comfortable dealing with them. These people don't make life about "Race", but about being decent.
