Trade Deadline

Sounds like this trade is going to happen. So in the best case scenario, the Jazz would rent Lawson for a year and a half season? Considering he would be an unrestricted free agent at the end of 2016/2017 season. I'm not sure it is worth, he has a big salary.

1. I'm pretty positive this is a salary dump and we would be taking assets back
2. It's a team option next season. Jazz can dump him.

Yeah, I'm sure Lawson will be buried in max contract offers! Best case scenario, we keep him to back up Exum if he pans out.

Who gives a ****? He's a professional making millions. And he's in his late 20s. Those comments are overblown.
I agree with this. But the Jazz better talk to him before ever agreeing to any deal for him. Because the worst thing that could happen is he pulls a rony seikaly and just doesn't show up. Can you imagine the issues if we have to bring Burke and others back like they did then.

Lawson has been TERRIBLE this year!!! Plus he is a noted MALCONTENT! And that's even if his ALCHY issues are over!!!! And we're HELPING Houston!!!

I agree with you. We are known to help other teams...the Warriors won the championship thanks to the Jazz too.

unless we're getting some sort of decent - solid asset from Houston for this, this makes no sense for us to do and I'll be completely floored

If he steps out of line, Jazz cut him and are left with a pick. Jazz AREN'T re-signing Trey, so at least they get back a pick. As for helping Houston, how are Harden and Trey going to co-exist when each of them wants to chuck up shots?

If Lawson values his NBA career, he turns it around here and then asks the Jazz not to pick up his option. Or the Jazz DO pick up the option and use him as a trade chip this summer. It's a big risk, yes, but just view it as a salary dump, with Utah getting a 1st round pick.

Just keeping Burke is better than Lawson. At least he has accepted his role on the team.

Disagree. Not when you think about the potential that could still be there and also the fact that you may be able to get more than just Lawson for taking the salary from Houston.

Quick Question to those wanting HOU pick included:

If you're a GM, would you trade a late first for Trey Burke?
Late first are virtually worthless. If your the Jazz why do you take somebody else's problems without getting compensated for the risk?

To backup Exum next season? You want to waste $13 million for a backup pg? Better to use those money to buy other players next season.

Draft picks have become very valuable recently. HOU's pick would fall between #16-#20, I wouldn't say that is 'worthless'.
