What's new

OFFICIAL Postseason race thread *Sticky*

Portland has 9 of 11 on the road now, including Bulls Pacers Raptors Celtics Spurs Warriors Thunder. Also Pistons. Gonna be very interesting to see how they do. Stupid tie-breaker.

Assuming we beat the Nets, which we SHOULD, our 4 game road trip might make or break us. We gotta go at least 2-2. Raptors Celtics Memphis Pelicans. I aint feeling to bullish right now. I mean given how bad we are on the road, maybe we should pray for 1-3. jesus.

Just curious. . . since the Jazz are still well under the cap, should they throw some money at Joe Johnson to shore up the bench a little bit more?

The backups have clearly struggled to score, and I think that getting him could potentially help keep things tighter when the starters are out. His numbers aren't amazing, but he'd help provide some more shooting from the bench. Plus, it would be a coup for the Jazz to get a player that most expect to end up on one of the "contenders". Even if it's just for the last few weeks of this season. The Heat are very limited in what they can offer and the Jazz have plenty of cap space to overpay for a short stay.

I wasn't sure he'd get bought out. . . Now that he has, I'd be very interested in bringing him in - even if they have to overpay to get him. Jazz should be looking at their playoff rotation and I think Johnson would be a clear upgrade over Jingles and CJ in the lineup.

He's terrible bruh.

He's terrible bruh.

He's terrible at $25 million and starting - for sure. But what about at $2 million to be a come off bench player to spark the offense when either Hayward or Hood come out? His per 36 numbers aren't terrible and he shoots the 3 better than any of the Jazz current bench players. Jazz bench was 1/8 from three last night and that one was by Booker. That's terrible.

For $2m, sure!

The article that I read today said that the Heat might be looking for ways to get him at or under a minimum contract to keep out of the luxury tax. Jazz could easily top that offer with their cap space and still have room to spare. There's about 1/3 rd of the season left. $2 million for 25 games (plus the playoffs) would be about a $7 million contract for the full season. I think that's entirely reasonable.

Give me a healthy playoff rotation of Gobert, Favors, Lyles/Booker, Hayward, Hood, Burks, Johnson/Johnson, Mack and Neto/Burke. That's not bad and gives the Jazz more small ball options down the stretch.

He doesn't clear waivers until tomorrow, so even though he's expected to end up in Miami. . . I'd still try to poach him before they can finalize it.

**** it
I'm down

Since they won't, it's a moot point. . . but just for speculation. . . if they brought in Joe Johnson (or some other vet for a stretch run, who would you cut?

Top two options would seem to be Chris Johnson or Tibor Pleiss. CJ would almost certainly get picked up on waivers, but Pleiss probably wouldn't, so the Jazz would be on the hook for his $3 million next year. Or maybe he would get picked up $3 million for one season isn't that much for a young big man even though he's been out of the loop the whole season.

Other guys being discussed for buyouts I guess are Kevin Martin and Lance Stephenson (although I think Memphis keeps him TBH.)

Denver just blew a 23 point lead against Dallas (including a 9 point lead in the last two minutes). After Portland blew a 21 point lead against Houston last night.

Jazz are getting no help.

I'll be shocked if the Jazz make the PO's. Lessons that should have been learned last year continue to bite them and it'll be enough to keep the playoffs out of reach.

When a team loses this many close games, and is involved in so many close games that shouldn't have been close to begin with, and when a team is failing to beat teams with clearly inferior talent, you have to blame the coaching.

How many of those have we lost with a full roster though. I can't be mad about losing close games starting the likes of Withey, Lyles and Neto

I agree with you, Quin is often praised and rarely criticized, his decisions down the stretch cost different losses. In addition I don't understand why he is not playing Withey. I didn't agree that he put Mack in the starting lineup immediately after his arrival.

Quin could be smart and so on but the way he is drawing plays down the stretch, it shows that he is inexperienced and feels too much the emotions of the game.
