I just got 13 used CDs for $20. Why wouldn't I want to do that?

Edit ...and actually they weren't all used, many were new. Hence the pet peeve.

Double pet peeve post.

I was eating at a sandwich shop with my 8 yr old and my 18 month old. 18 month old, who is prone to throwing fits to get what he wants, throws a fit since I want him to sit down and eat.

Now I'm in a spot. Do I let the kid scream and bother everyone else in the shop or do I force my hand and put him in his spot? I decided to cover his screaming mouth and hold him tight until he gave up.

This ******* confronts me telling me I'm choking my child. I chuckle a little and responded that my kid has a nose. Like I'm trying to choke my child, or not monitoring his breathing.

The guy went ballistic and stormed off.


What the hell is wrong with society?

More importantly, did your smothering help pacify the little **** to the point that once you took your hand off, he was chill?

I like your style. I generally just go close to my daughter and meanly ask if she wants a smack on her tookus? She stops about 40% of the time, cries in response to the meanness 40% of the time, and continues her nonsense the other 20%. So I feel like I win 80% of the time. Winning!

Every child is different. I try to raise mine according to their personality and needs. Some get more tough love than others.

Yep, no doubt. My take is we smother our daughter (18 months next week) with love and she's the sweetest thing, running up to her friends at daycare to give them hugs and kisses each morning. She's always smiling and happy and having fun. So when we firmly tell her no (her most hated word) or to stop, I don't feel so bad. The girl knows we love the hell out of her.

And she ain't winning.
 
That reminds me--pet peeve: people who repeatedly tell their kids "stop it or [insert threat here]", but then who don't follow up with any consequences when the kids continue to act up. (Unless the threat was clearly made only for humorous purposes, something we ourselves have found to be pretty effective.)

When you walk up to people that always have headphones in their ears and start talking to them, only to find out they are actually on a phone call this time.

So 2 peeves.

1- always having headphones in the ear
2- never knowing when said person is actually on a phone call

I have hundreds of CDs I do not listen to and need to get rid of. Where can you turn in used CDs with a minimum of effort?

That's my pet peeve. Having spent hundred of dollars on CDs.
