Has anyone said Frank Zappa?


I'll say it again-- Frank Zappa.
 
The "overrated" SRV folks, who could swing back and forth from the rhythmic sections in the song to lead guitar pieces like spreading butter. And provide very respectable vocals at the same time:

Me in Austin, paying tribute to the great SRV. That's how big of a fan I am.
 
To me, idolizing people for their musical talent is like idolizing people for their penmanship.

Possible candidates include Hendrix, Sinatra, Cash, BB King, Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan, Frank Zappa, Haggard, Hank Williams and Armstrong.

That list has musicians that started genres (or redefined them) and talents for instruments and singing.

I would add Charles Mingus to Coltrane and Miles Davis.

Have to add Robert Johnson. Armstrong as well.

Then goes with

Jimi Hendrix
Thelonius Monk
Muddy Waters
Ella Fitzgerald
Chet Baker

It goes on.

Not really as great or important but one of my personal favourites is Terry Callier.
 
I came here for one reason, and one reason only. This list starts with Nickelback. It can end anywhere else you please, but that is where it begins.
