Following 2016 potential draftees

I think the players that have been named (Burke, Morrison, Meeks) had obvious flaws on offense. Bad flaws. Hield doesn't have any.

Also...

Jimmer's 3 pt %: 39.6% (44.0% as a junior) in a crap conference
Morrison's: 42.8% (31.1% as a sophomore) in a crap conference
Burke's: 38.4% (34.8% as a frosh)

Hield: 46.5% on 8.7 attempts per game in a great conference

TS% last year in college

Burke: 56.9%
Jimmer: 59.4%
Morrison: 60.5%
Hield: 67.0%...in a great conference

To compare, Steph Curry who is having an all-time great year (could be considered best ever statistically) has a TS% of 67.2%.

I wouldn't call Hield a good athlete. Average at best.

Hield isn't bad, but I don't see him having much of a dribble drive game in the NBA, and while he has the tools to be a good defender, he isn't yet. He's good, but he's not a top 5 guy. Maybe he can be better than Redick, but he hasn't played against any NBA wings. His competition at his position has sucked this year. I think Dunn has more of an impact in more areas. Good scorer, better creator, better defender, better size (for his position), better athletic level.

Durant's freshman year was better than Buddy's senior season.

I'd say Anthony Davis too.

Steph Curry's Jr season was more impressive to me too. Hield has floor spacers all around him..

I'm talking wings so in that regard Davis doesn't matter.

Durant's season was sick no doubt. He rebounded exceptionally well and shot well but his TS% was still just 58.7%. I think people are underestimating just how insane 67.0% is. Curry was great. I won't say better or worse.

Btw, I'm with you on this one CL

Hield is the man!

He was impressive.
I recall how curry didn't have enough size, wasn't athletic enough, and couldn't defend and therefore shouldn't be a top 5 pick.

Sounds familiar

That draft, in my eyes, is best example I can think of to demonstrate why you've gotta go for the BPA(in an upside sense) instead of team need... It certainly changed my perspective, and actually continues to do so..

The way Curry's been playing the last 2 seasons just solidifies that point even further, IMO. Jeff Teague making the All-star team last year adds to it aswell..

The T'wolves stole the show with their ineptitude, thats what people remember, but I'm talking about the Knicks. My stomach still sinks a bit when I think of them selecting Jordan Hill over DeRozan or Brandon Jennings..

For months leading up to the draft I desperately wanted them to trade up to secure Curry, Rubio, Tyreke.......... or Hasheem Thabeet.. LOL. no lie..

Not dissimilar to my feelings in '08 when wanted them to trade up for Westbrook
(who i thought was a lock to go in the top-3 and fell to 4) or Brook Lopez, who I didn't even think would fall to them..

Thought Steph might be a bit gimmicky, thought he'd be the type that needed to fight fire with more fire (as opposed to being a 2-way player), but I knew for sure he'd be highly entertaining to watch, would draw tons of attention on the perimeter, and would at least go nuts every once in a while, which is what the fan-base loved about the recently jettisoned Jamal Crawford (who was traded for Al Harrington:mad:)..

Thought Rubio or Tyreke might be the better fit just because the defense was atrocious, I thought either could spearhead the defense, just like I (and mostly everyone else) thought Thabeet could be an effective rim-protector.. The chasm between Team need vs BPA wasn't nearly as apparent to me as it is now though..

Was also a big fan of James Harden but I really thought they needed either a C or a PG as a franchise pillar, to really jump-start the team... I was still furious they took Gallinari over Brook Lopez.

The bums bought the Lakers 1st rd pick and took Toney Douglas over Pat Beverley too:mad:..

That sorta stuff is why I don't understand the hate for draftwatchers such as myself, it's clearly an event of great unknowns, and there's profound(dare I say $100,000,000) ramifications.. definitive outcomes aren't apparent til years down the line, I like that kind of drama.. My favorite sports event remains the NBA draft.

Yeah, but these are the same arguments Jimmer apologists were making. For every Lillard/Curry, you can find a dozen Jimmers/Morrisons.

I like Hield, but I don't think he's going to be a star, per se. I think he has good enough length and athleticism--combined with elite shooting ability--to be effective in the NBA, but I'm not sure he has enough ability to create off the dribble or create for others; he doesn't have crazy shiftiness to his game. I think Brad Beal is his ceiling. Although, he's not quite the athlete that Beal is.

I'd take him 6th or 7th.

Curry is an extreme outlier. It's really just not a good example to use.

Hield's age hurts him. His lack of competition hurts him. Shoot, a guy like Kaminsky was arguable more productive (a lot of that due to age) at a position where his skills make him more of a mismatch, and he's still struggling as a rookie. Again, I like Hield, but he's a role player that could make an impact like Redick IF he continues to improve (and I believe he will). I'd like to see him go against an athletic wing though, so hopefully he plays Syracuse or UNC.
