Following 2016 potential draftees

I just believe, as it relates to the Jazz, Luwawu fits one key criterion that Korkmaz very well may not..

part of the reasoning behind this is because of how the Trey Lyles pick has worked, and if this is even partially true, the incoming playoff birth/urgency to get back next year would further reinforce this logic;

-I think they'll be looking for a player who like Lyles this year could potentially play a reliable role off the bench by the end of their rookie season, to the point where they can be trusted in the playoffs. Who also looks like potentially a viable starter/replacement/insurance in the future..

Korkmaz role would obviously be shooter but how skinny/'NBA ready' is he? certain matchups are going to go at him full force.. Basically I question how ready he's going to be at this time next year to provide a true punch or even new dynamic off the bench..

This is obviously of little long-term consequence but how would Ingles and Korkmaz look defensively on the wing together?? am I to believe they'd be passable, on this team that prides itself in defense..??

I am definitely looking more long term than you are. Not really looking for someone to help next year. However, again if Korkmaz played on a team like Mega his numbers would be great this season as well. Obviously Korkmaz needs to add bulk, but he is a good athlete and has long arms. His wingspan must be nice. No reason to believe he can not be a good defender. Two years younger will be a big help as well.

Whenever I hear the name "Terrance Furgeson" I just think about this:

Jazz land in the lottery like a cat lands on its feet..

I love it!!

Only really wanted to make the playoffs to see how the young players would show, to see Burks for a few extra games, and of course, to see if Hayward would choke -- Now if they make the playoffs next year and it doesn't go well for him, his playoff stats will be an eyesore going into his big free agency offseason

LOL .. that's funny but bittersweet at the same time...

yep.. Let me be the first to say Boler and Harpring will probably repeat something like "It's like the Jazz really have 2 lottery picks this year with Exum returning" often next season

Thought that was Lindsey's line.

Oh wait, he uses the term "acquisition" after he fails to sign anyone significant in free agency.

What do you guys think of Denzel Valentine? I think he's a 'Guard version of Draymond Green'.

Is that a fair assessment? Or is he more Derrick Williams?

I'm not sure what the board consensus is on Denzel Valentine, but all I know is the dude knows how to play basketball.

19.2 PPG, 7.5 RPG, and 7.8 APG in college this year and 44.4% from three on 7.5 attempts a game.

I don't care that he is a senior, I'm tired of hearing all of this bs about young players. We're seeing how that works out.

We need guys who know how to play basketball and I'm not sure anybody played better than Valentine this year.

lol at there being a "board consensus".. Ever.. On anything.

Didn't see this before my previous post, but I'm not sure where the hell the Randy Foye comparison came from. His senior year he was no where near the playmaker Valentine is. 7.8 APG vs. 3 APG and not to mention Valentine is a much better rebounder. He's 2-3 inches shorter than him too and Valentine shot almost 10% better from three on the same amount of attempts (7.5). Lazy comparison PG_AB.

You can't be any version of Draymond Green when you're not good at defense.

For Valentine to be an effective player, he needs the ball in his hands. Can we have that with Exum, Hayward, Hood and Burks already here? He'd probably be fine as a spot up shooter, but his defense is a pretty big weakness.

I'm not as high on Valentine as I used to be, kinda saw the light. I just don't think our team fits with him. I think he'll have a harder time getting his shots/driving lanes due to his slowness.

Since DL is a good drafter, I'd be a little shocked if we trade our pick. If we don't trade it for a vet though, I hope we trade Burks for some defensive minded veteran that actually has some balls. We desperately need a leader on this team.
