Following 2016 potential draftees

Couldn't they also win by playing good defense and great offense? More than one way to skin a cat imo and last year I saw a lot of ugly *** offense.

Sometimes you can hide a bad defender and you can have a great defensive scheme and defensive minded coach.

You always need to put the ball in the hoop though. I think great offense beats great defense quite often. I often see a player play perfect defense and still get scored on by better offense.

But neither one of us is right or wrong. We just have different perspectives and preferences.

I have always liked offense better than defense (in football too), it's just my preference.

Anyone with a clue and Internet access will know that our offensive woes > our defensive woes

We very obviously have a top 5 defence and a bottom 5 offence.

That's not to say that we draft wings that are poor defensively-- doing so makes the player nearly unplayable. Still, having s wing defend at a Rodney Hood level is good enough.

We need spacing, and we need shot-creation. Ideally from the PG position & threes coming from the wing.

I agree with you about shot creation for others, but the Jazz offense floated around top 10 for a large part of the season and finished middle of the pack. The only thing bottom 5 about the Jazz offense is the assist statistics. It makes sense considering the group of players playing PG last season. I believe fast break points were a struggle for this Jazz team as well.

On offense we need a PG who can run an offense and create shots for others (Exum is our guy) and we need spacing like you said.

Why settle for top 10, top 5 defense? Why not be the best defense? The 2012-2014 Pacers, Thib's Bulls teams, even last years Spurs. That's the model the Jazz should be following and frankly we are lacking perimeter defenders. The 121.3 DRtg in the last 5 minutes is eye-popping. They are in the company of the Suns, Lakers, 76ers, and Pelicans.

I think that's a legit concern, but maybe not as bad as it seems. Translates to about 8 per 36. Still not great, but not terrible.

Absolutely love his 3pt stroke for a guy 6'10" with freakish athleticism.

Besides the rebounding, another concern I have is why he played just 24 minutes a game. If you're a team like UW, and you are fighting for a NCAA berth, needing to win every game, and if he's that good, why only 24? Freshmen these days are playing big minutes, so I'm not sure that's an excuse.

I sort of agree that he looks like a top 5 pick, but he's not without some concern.

He played only 24 minutes a game because he averaged over 4 fouls a game. He probably fouled out in about half of the games.

I don't think Chriss has a clue yet about how to really play. He's all athletic skills and potentially interesting shooting and (maybe) ball handling skills at this point. I don't really want him. He reminds me to much of a less productive SF/PF tweener version of Tyus Thomas. He won't be really helping the Jazz for 4-5 years.

Interesting tweets from the guy who does the DraftExpress scouting videos

Prince is probably someone we should discuss more.

Admittedly, I haven't watched much Malachi. But from the little I've seen, is a comparison to Jeremy Lamb kind of fair? Long wingspan relative to height, fluid athletes (Lamb is surprisingly explosive), high upside, settles for jumpers, streak shooters (though Lamb shot much better from the field in college), and all the physical tools to be good defenders.. Lamb had a much smoother shot in college though. Lamb had some effort and motor concerns, but I haven't heard that about Richardson.

How big is chriss? In his highlight video I thought he looked like a pure wing (sg/sf) about 6 foot 7 ish.

But reading you guys posts talking about him it seems like he is much bigger

From the combine: 6'10" in shoes, 233 pounds, 7'0.25" wingspan, 38.5" vert

A true defensive team gets out and scores in transition. 3 pt shooting is not as important as having athletes that can get out and run. Second importance is depth on the bench so you can rest players to run.

This is one of the things that made the jazz team of the 90s great. After a missed shot malone would sprint down the court.

Rebounding is also very important. With this in mind i would look for players that a quick and rebound out of position.

These are part of the things that agents like about richardson.

I would mess myself if the jazz could get criss. You could almost use lyles and criss interchangeable at the 3 and the 4. When they go against bigger 3s. Then 4 and 5 when the other team goes small.

Primary wing rotation of hood, hayward and or burks or a free agent.

Thanks spycam for the props on my comp for korkmaz and brent barry. A much less passing barry.

Luwawu is ALOT like sefalosha (sp). I dont know why that is bad both are strong defenders and shoot the ball well. Sefalosha has helped his team win every where he has gone.

Jeremy Lamb, relatively speaking, is an air head. He's one of the most disengaged, low-motor players with his athletic tools I've ever seen. He also doesn't have much handle or ability to create his own shot. Richardson is going to be much better than Lamb.

Thanks for the info. Much bigger than he looks in the highlight video I watch. Very fluid and agile for his size

"Murray's the type of player who really comes alive when the lights are on and kept pushing through repetitions of the star drill, trying to break the record for the most 3s hit in a two-minute period. He hit 22 in his first try -- just short of the record of 23, which he achieved on his second try. Then his workout partner, Dyshawn Pierre, made 24. Murray asked to go through the exhausting drill one more time and this time made 25."

That is insane shooting. I would trade with boston to get him

And Stauskas scored 70/76 from 3 in 5 minutes, so what? That's not basketball. The question is what he will be able to do with NBA-athletes guarding him.

What would you give Boston for #3?

Too bad he didnt work on his 3pt shot that much before his Freshman year.

He can't defend. You're gonna trade Hayward for a guy who can't defend?
