Exum to the Olympics

Hell I'm big time encouraged that this is even being discussed.......I talk like he's going to be good when healthy ,but it's even better when it starts to be reality.

Work even harder Dante ,because you seem to be doing everything right !!

I am excited to see him play. He does need the experience and playing time. I hope the team uses him well and puts him in at PG and lets him be the ball handler more often. That said I could not handle him getting hurt again. That would be a huge blow to that Jazz.

He needs to play. Rose sat out almost two years to baby his ACL and it didn't help him one damn bit. Promptly injured his OTHER knee with a meniscus tear upon returning.

It can help but it depends on how Australia is going to use him

If they use him as a 2 guard I don't really see that really benefiting him as much, might not be worth the risk.

Here's an Australian podcast with Dante from today:
https://www.believethehypenba.com/2016/05/23/episode-398-checking-in-with-dante-exum/

Highlights:
- He has appointment(with doctor) on the 26th to clear him up for contact(1-on-1 and 2-on-2)
- He studied the game from the bench while injured. Said he noticed every small thing, noticed the little things and mannerisms of players when they are not happy(with how involved they are).
- Said a lot of the work he's been doing on his body is about injury prevention, making sure his movement mechanics is good.
- Goal is playoffs next season.
- Said it's great to see amidst all coaching firings, that the team has confidence in Quin and give him such a long extension (direct quote "I have so much confidence in Quin")
- Great to see the coaching staff having confidence in the young players
- Rodney was huge for the team and took some of the load off Gordon, said he hopes to take some more of it when he returns next year.
- Quin preaches "Buy into the system" and young players are embracing it, Trey [Lyles] came into the system and played huge minutes when Faves went down even though he didn't play much in the beginning of the season. The Jazz have a plan about what kind of players they want to bring in.
- Said the Jazz are not forced to look too heavily in the draft in order to fill holes(because of all the young good pieces we already have)
- He's been working most on his shooting and strength while out.
- No personal goals for next season. "Just get out on the court", "I have so much confidence in myself, sitting out has made me more hungry"
- Participation in Rio is still an option. Needs to keep making strides.
- Watches the playoffs, but not as much as a fan, but rather with the thought of improving himself - he watches the PGs and how they are running their teams.

uh-oh, who was he talking about? Which Jazzmen were sulking last season?

I don't know, but I can imagine Rudy not being happy with how much he was used and our PGs inability to throw him a lob. It's not necessarily sulking, just natural reaction of frustration for not being involved in the offense.

If he's as good as he thinks he is ,Jazz are going to make a big leap in Wins.Sort of like that 19 W and 10L stretch he was staring PG for.

My biggest concern would be fatigue at the end of the NBA season causing a re-injury. Dante was out the whole year and we already saw what playing the over the course of the summer and then the regular season did to Rudy. He clearly didn't have the same energy as he did the year before. I want these guys to rest and work out with the team over the summer. If your team has a legit shot, great. . . but Australia and France don't. They need to get a plan worked out with the Jazz and stick to that plan.

He'll prbably play what, 20 minutes a game for a handful or two of games? Nothing special.

Yep. I've said this before in another thread but I think Rudy was hurt the most by the loss of Exum. Just watch this:

They have as much of a shot as anyone not named America.

This highlight reel got me all hyped, he's special. I hope he hasn't lost a step when he gets 100% healthy and in game form again.

This terrifies me but I realize it's for the best. Hopefully he gets his sea legs under him there, and we can see a noticeably better player in October so that when the season starts, we can't contain ourselves.

I call ******** on the "he needs all the playing time he can get" argument. He needs to keep his *** off the court of international play, continue to rehab the knee, and give his focus and dedication to the team that's actually paying him to play basketball.

If Exum is still rusty after SLC and Vegas summer leagues, as well as training camp, I'm more than fine letting him find his sea legs during the first quarter of an 82 game season. Not too happy the Jazz signed off on this.
Exum isn't doing SL

I don't think Exum gets that much of his rust shaken off playing in a few international games.

DL needs to make the unpopular decision of telling him "NO". He's a Utah Jazz asset and doesn't need to be serving other interests at this point.
DL isn't his dad and Exum can make his own choices. Its not in FO best interest to upset players.
