Following 2016 potential draftees

How much more $ can the Jazz offer Hayward vs other teams? Anyone know the exact numbers?

I tried going through the CBA FAQ, and quickly gave up on account of it making my eyes bleed. I saw a 7.5% raise relative to first year of contract number tho-- not sure what non-Bird players are liable to.

My math is close but probably not perfect

We can offer him 5 years $150M
Another team can offer 4 years $111M

We could come strong and offer 5 year max with a player option on the 5th year and Gordo may opt not to look elsewhere. Endorsement money for non-superstars probably doesn't make up for $40M over 5 years unless he goes to LA, NY, SF, Chicago and they actually win. I don't think Boston is a big endorsement market... I get that they are a historic franchise but not sure they move the needle a ton. I also don't see them as having a lot more young talent than we do... Smart, the 3rd pick this draft then who?

His contract would start at about 30.25M(if max). Utah is the only team that can give him 5th year and give him 7.5% yearly raises(vs 4.5% for others). The raises would be about 2.25M per season. 30.25+32.5+34.75+37+39.25. That would be 173.75M for 5 years.

Other teams can give him 30.25 and 1.35 raises every following year. 30.25+31.6+32.95+34.3~=129M

So yah... 174M(5) vs 134.5(4) vs 129M(4) is the difference we are talking about.

edit: the numbers might not be exact but you get the overall difference.

Word is if Bender is not taken by Boston or the Suns at 4...that he could fall out of top-10. You buy that Steve ?
stevekylerNBA: I do... Not sure Bender has as many fans among NBA teams as he does media and fan-bases. Has talent for sure.

Wow, I wonder what Bender's backstop is then. Orlando at 11? Phoenix at 13?

Dont buy it. This is the only reporter I have seen say this. I think teams are just being low key about Bender.

I read the table wrong and had him on the $92 M cap.

This is the correct projection.

Will the guy who drove a Honda Accord as a rookie turn down $40M and a stable situation. Marketing opportunities in Utah are pretty solid for a small market. That Gordon Hayward Honda of St. George will make money for 25 years after he retires.

Watching some Korkmaz right now. live.

He intrigues me like Giannis and Porzingis did back in 2013 and 2014 respectively.

That length and having an NBA skill while at such a young age. Not saying that I'd necessarily take him at #12, but I'd really like to see the Jazz get a good look at him.

inform us on his defence plz

It was decent. Obviously he will have problems against some 6'2" speedster. He is probably 6'8" now. I have actually seen him play actual live games including this one so it is not as bad as some want to claim. It will get better as he gets stronger. More disappointing was that he missed both his 3 pointers. Been off with his 3 point shot lately. Wonder if he will come over and workout. Only will have a few days to do so. He is a candidate to drop out the draft if he and his agent dont think he will go high enough this year.

Probably a smokescreen as DL is too smart to make public whom he plans on drafting:

Tony Jones: "The Jazz see Dejounte Murray as a point guard, which is interesting, since he played a lot off the ball at Washington. Said he can play with Exum." 21 hours ago – via Twitter Tjonessltrib

It was Perrin, not DL, who made those comments.

If we do draft Murray, it'll be interesting to see Dante and Dejounte play together. They'd obviously need to work a lot on their outside shooting, but the defense, penetration, and play making would be great. How many teams have ever been able to roll out a dual-PG lineup with two PGs who are both 6'5-6'6?

I like it a lot. Puts pressure on a defense. Same reason I think Baldwin could succeed here.

Yeah, and Baldwin is a more established shooter. I think the upside of Dejounte is greater though, and he supposedly surprised the Jazz with how well he shot the ball during the workout (like Lyles did last year).

I like both so much more than Richardson. I'd prefer Baldwin though because of the spot up shooting and he's built like an ox.

Murray's length and athleticism seem to display itself well in his rebounding and steal #s.

Yeah, I like Murray (of UW). I think he and Baldwin have high potential, with Murray being the better slasher and Baldwin the better shooter.
