Not like there are tons to choose from in this category. Who could they be targeting?

I feel bad for Withey. He's too good to be buried on the bench.

Jason smith... Doesn't shoot threes but he shoots long twos... I doubt Orlando resigns him.

Or Mo Buckets

We could have had Hawes & the 22nd pick. Hawes at $6,000,000 and a UFA in 2018. Not a lot of shooting bigs left besides Gasol & Speights.

I don't think there's a backup shooting center in this league who can defend a rock - thus a poor fit with Lyles who we all want to see flourish. I say throw $8m for one or two years (player option?) at Zaza. He sets good screens (which we desperately need), is a rebounding bruiser and will certainly compensate for any nastiness we lost in Booker (and then some). We keep Withey at the paltry $1m just for injury insurance because he was solid when filling in last year, but again much like Jingles, I don't want him to be my fourth big in reg rotation.

Options

In a league that is Favoring playing smaller, Trey Lyles seems like he's developing a nice shot to fit the small ball role.

Curious if the Jazz have explored having Favors shoot the 3 a little. As much as his 15 footer has continued to improve and with Snyders success with teaching guys to shoot...why not?

Does this mean Bolomboy is for sure gone?

Pau Gasol? Seems like the best fit to me. Sounds like his top options are San Antonio, Portland and Minnesota. I honestly think the Jazz would be just as good (if not better) of a fit for him. I can understand the interest in San Antonio, but the Jazz can offer him more money for essentially the same role (if Duncan comes back.)

There isn't a single stretch 5 that can defend a rock and would accept the role and money available to him on the Jazz. Which would make him a horrible fit with Trey Lyles, and we all want to see him flourish this year. I suggest we throw $8m for 1-2 years at Zaza. He would certainly compensate for any lost nastiness (and then some) we might lose from Booker's departure. Plus it would worth it just for him three days before advancing to the WCF, to yell out "GAAAAME SEVEEEN BABY!!! We're going to game seveeeeenn!" Keep Withey for injury insurance - his $1M is well worth it as a third stringer...
