2016 Annual JazzFanz All-Time NBA Draft

Might as well call the 10th round the "homer round".

Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns?

This from the guy who took Klay Thompson ahead of the likes of MVP Rose, Barry, Mullins and Maravich. Homer indeed. LOL indeed. At least ours was in the 10th round.

With the 117th pick, thee jazz fan selects Larry Nance Sr. Pf.

This video shows his great athletic ability. He out dueled dr J. One of the all time great Dunkers.

This video shows his great versatility and overall game. He had a smooth jumper out to 20ft. Great defender and rim protector using his elite athletic ability. He made the all defensive first team in 89, and averaged 2.2 blocks for his career.

Considered going homer in the 10th round and picking Gobert. Decided to keep my streak of having Nate Thurmond on my team extend to three strait seasons. My other homer pick is still on the board. One of the All time greats, but not such a good fit in the modern game. Still surprised that he likely goes undrafted.

End result. . .

PG: Steve Nash / Dennis Johnson
SG: Kobe Bryant / Pistol Pete Maravich
SF: Dominique Wilkins / Rick Barry
PF: Karl Malone / Ben Wallace
C: Arvydas Sabonis / Nate Thurmond

This is the third straight year I've drafted Nance. He was the best available defender at pf that I could see. He also fits well with Laimbeer who is a good hard nosed defender but offeres little to no rim protection. Where as Nance was a great shot bocker and one of the best at pf in a his draft.

Not that anyone cares but the way I will vote on this thing will roughly break down like this:
Overall talent (starters weighing more than bench)
How the skillsets fit together
Matchups
Strategy/posters coaching/team write up.

I'm thinking I will judge each team and award points for each category. I think talent is most important so you could get a max of 10 points for talent. Max of 7 points for fit. Max of 5 points for better matchups. Max of 3 points for strategy and write up.

If there is a tie then I will pick based on who I like better as a poster.

Something like that anyway.

P.S. Unfortunately for some of you I will not think favorably about players that I don't really know anything about.... Mostly players from way back. Guys like wilt, Bill russell, oscar Robertson, and Jerry west are guys that I never saw play but I know enough about them that they won't hurt your team when it comes to my vote. But some guys that I know nothing about might hurt your chances to get my vote.

But I'm just one voter. Just thought I would put it out there about my thoughts on how I will vote.

I actually didn't take Klay I traded for him.

Klay is one of the best shooters ever. He made more 3s this season than Reggie Miller or Ray Allen ever did. He broke the record for most 3s in a playoff game (and did it while facing elimination). And let's not forget that he broke Wilt's record for points in a quarter.

Give me Klay Thompson in the 5th round all day over Ray Allen in the 2nd.

I think that's a really well thought out and reasonable way to base your voting strategy on. I think I'll do something similar with my own process. Thanks for putting it out there.
