What's new

Most anticipated Presidential debate ever. **** show round 2.

Did anyone catch something Hillary said earlier and try to explain it to me??

It was like, "Well the country is what it is and if we could do it over we could do it differently, but we are set up as an 'employer system.'"

Shes saying they would try for single payer healthcare.

Martha Raddatz shouldn't have pressed Trump so much on that Syria question. She seemed like she was personally invested in the Syrian conflict and pissed at Trump. Trump looked like a fool on his Syrian question and split with his own VP candidate.

Trump also predictably was unapologetic with his treatment of women, but perhaps diverted attention by bringing up Bill Clinton. In the end, it all comes down to voter perception. Trump lies so much that he has essentially changed the game and brought these debates back to a 19th century debate. Insane that this is possible when we're the most technologically able to disprove these lies. The lies are so numerous that an alternate reality is created.

Clinton did not perform as strongly (bigly) as I would have liked, but Trump changes the game and can take control, because he lies so much that you almost can't debate him. You have to hope that he makes an *** out of himself. You can attack everyone of his lies after the debate, but debates are theatre, not venues where facts are important. Once again, people who think that Trump will ever go away, irrespective of what he says or does, are mistaken. Nothing Trump says or does will harm him notably to the point that he's out; he could literally do anything, and his followers would not abandon him. People are too stupid. Those on this forum who have said he never had a chance should examine Brexit and Columbia's latest rejection of a peace proposal. He's as dangerous as ever.

Completely and utterly playing to his base. They all had rock hard erections after that comment.
I think even the crowd seems to like that comment judging by the cheer. It was a great end to the attack on Hillary on the emails and I think she came out looking pretty bad after that and never really recovered.

The crowd was obviously favoring either one or the other nominees. People who are even remotely aware of reality and the judicial system or Clinton supporters in general wouldn't have thought that was as amusing. It was exactly what Trump does with everyone in the world. He blusters and makes zingers that have no bearing in reality. Donald Trump is a master of yo-mama jokes for fifties guys. Great for TV.

Well the expression on her face at that point wasn't good... that, more than the comment itself, was pretty damning. She should have come back with something, instead she was silent.

That's what I mean. Trump doesn't play by any rule book. He looks for any advantage he can find to give himself power, even if its largely irrelevant or holds no weight in reality. We lose ourselves in the moment, and our rational mind leaves as he asserts himself into a position of power. He does this with lies and simply looking for any edge that elevates him to a position of power, even if he has totally abandoned anything at all pertaining to the original question or situation he began with. His brain does this so much that transcripts of his speech are so disjointed that they are virtually unreadable. That's why he is master of the zinger, and making attacks is where he lives. He was strongest tonight when he was attacking since he doesn't know much at all. Clinton was thrown off of her game by his relentless lies and mostly irrelevant attacks, and her frustration was evident. I could read anger and frustration on her face at multiple points in the debate. In this respect, Trump may have earned points with voters. Trump also humanized himself a bit with his compliment at the end. Clinton had a tougher job on that last question though IMHO.

And she gave the absolute worst answer right at the end IMO. Her MO had been maintaining that 'holier than thou' stance, and to give a copout answer of "His children" right at the end, I mean,...

To me voters are going to look at that and see a small window into who she is .... a confirmation of what they suspect of her, that she's evasive & calculating on the inside. That's a real shame.

I **** you not, if I had 24 hours to come up with an answer to that question they asked about Trump, I would struggle heartily to answer it with a straight face. What would you say about Trump and be able to say it with a straight face and without eliciting laughter from the crowd? I thought her answer was fine, but she should have maybe emphasized Trump's role in who they are a bit more. In reality, he had very little to do with their upbringing (boarding schools etc.), and the man has a disturbingly long history of acting and expressing his "admiration" for his daughter in non-plutonic parlance. I couldn't have given Clinton's answer with a straight face.

Is this seriously all show for you? That was the worst thing that he has said. Complete and total disdain for constitutnoal rights.

Great post. I have been thinking since the question was asked what good thing you could say about him. I got nothing. The children was a good answer. She should have stopped at that though, shirt and concise.

Na she completely fudged it with that answer to be honest. Just think about it, Trump has great children, if we elect him president you will all be his children. Hillary wants to MAGA confirmed.

Well then maybe say how good a father he's been? But instead she went right to "His children" as if it was a rehearsed answer.

I agree, but she had no clue what Trump was going to do. She was at a disadvantage, and the question was really random and had nothing to do with policy. Maybe I'll write in to the next debate with a question like, "If you two were both the last two people on earth and on a deserted island, would you be willing to have sex with the other candidate and how would you avoid the incest problem with your children?"

See my answer right above this, but it is way easier said than done. I admit her answer was not the best.

I think they should both call it quits and go on tour.
Epic duet.
