Can the Dante Exum Experiment Please End

I want to be an Exum fan, but so far in his entire career, he just hasn't been very good. Unbelievably limited on offense and very low on confidence/assertiveness for a 5th pick. His defense has regressed while his offense actually has shown only small flashes of improvement, but I wouldn't play him either. I think it's fine to let him play a little and see where he's at that particular game, mentally. It's not good for his continuity but it's not like we're looking at a wiggins or kobe talent. I still think he'll be a good player, but let's not blame Quinn for what's happening now. He stinks. Mack's not that great either, but Mack is only a slightly negative influence in the game at this point. Exum has not played enough basketball in his life to be great at it, needs to develop in practice and in solitary work outs. He'll get adequate chances to prove whether he's good or bad, and right now he's just not good.

Exum when healthy had a loose handle, poor shot, zero playmaking ability, and terribly low aggressiveness on the offensive side.

I'm sorry, but he's been a bust. I give him about 15-20 more games.

While your first statement is absolutely true, the latter is completely ridiculous. How the hell is a kid supposed to improve if he doesn't play?

In practice. That's where players improve. Game time is where you apply the **** you learned in practice. Game time is important, but Exum has a looooong way to go in practice.

We knew Dante was going to be a project when we drafted him. It sucks that the development was pushed back by his injury, but that doesn't change the reality that he was/is a young kid who has the potential to be great. Let's not give up on him just yet. He still has a couple of plays almost every game that shows what he could be. What he lacks now is consistency and confidence. I still think we should give him the time to develop, and see what he can become...although it is clear that right now, he is not what we were hoping for.

I have a new appreciation for Franklin. No other troll could get this many responses to a dumber thread. Good fishing Frankintroll.

Nonsense. Countless Athletes in both football and basketball have returned to form in one year or less from the time of their injury. Stop making excuses. It's not his lack of athleticism that's causing him to suck but his lack of actual skills. His ball handling, shot, and overall basketball IQ are below average.

That's absolute BS!!!

ACL injuries take 12 months to fully recover, if your coming back earlier it's a massive risk.

There would be very few athletes who play to there peak levels directly after returning from an ACL, its generally a 2 year timeframe to become fully confident and healthy again.

It's probably not affecting him physically now, but like most athletes coming off a serious injury, its more of a mental thing.

Why do you think supporters are always so nervous watching a player come back from injury? Just hoping they get through the game. This is exactly how the player feels, and it takes time to get past that worry stage and become confident again.

Embarrassing thread. Dante is going to be a part of this team for a long time, better get used to it.

Thriller only comes around when there is something to bitch about. He's always way wrong too which is a good sign for Dante.

If you are hinting at Hayward, I've called him out on several occasions. I'm still not sure Utah should tie up $30m on one player who isn't clutch and can rarely "take over" a game when the rest are struggling or out with injuries.

I'd rather have 2 or 3 Hills than 1 Hayward. Or not have to let Lyles and 1-2 others go because Hayward takes up 1/3 of the cap and Jazz can't/won't go into the tax for multiple years.

Hayward is very, very good. But he's not a superstar. And the Jazz WILL have limited resources starting in a couple of years.

I really hope this is sarcasm.

Then Exum spazzed out and turned his ankle. The kid really is a bit of a spazz. Rooting for him and all but geez.
