Zach Lowe Jazz Article

Kobe was out of the cool club too, which I thought was great. His problem was always the fact that he suffers from a supreme case of self-important megalomania, and he had too much pull with the Lakers organization.

Looking at seeding matchups the Jazz would face the Clippers in the first round and the winner of SAS/OKC in the second.

Yes please.

Nah, Hayward going to make the All-Star game and no one is going to pass him the ball. Then on the bench when everyone is laughing and having a good time, Hayward will be at the end twiddling his thumbs. As he goes into the locker-room for half-time his trainer, Rob Blackwell, grabs him by the arm and says "Hayward, you have to make these bitches respect you." Then Hayward come out in the 2nd half and balls out. After the game he goes Delonte West on LeBron's mom and sons him. LeBron comes home and sees Hayward on the couch smoking a cigarette. A startled and confused Lebron is coaxed to the couch by Hayward. Hayward tells him things have changed and LeBron will have to join the Jazz if he wants to win another ring.

You forgot to mention Lucille and LeBron's mother, and the ball gag, otherwise spot on.

So Zach basically said if we re-sign (NAOS that hyphen is for you) Hill or extend him that it signals Favs tenor may come to an end. Been kinda feeling this... So many ways to get by at the 4... I do wonder what we could get for him in a trade... also would just kinda suck too. Favs has been class act and helluva player... last couple years of injuries has been really unfortunate.

I am sure we would love to have Favors at 12 mil a year for the next 4 years. But that is up to him. If he wants to leave, then it would be good of him to say so. That was we can trade him.

I don't think his agent would ever let that happen.

D-Fav has been moonlighting as an opera singer ??

I just want y'all to list some long-term targets and suggestions for PF for this roster in the case of Derrick's departure.

Personally, i'm not a huge believer in Trey Lyles at this juncture playing >30 minutes next to Rudy; additionally, I dont think Boris is young enough to provide huge effective minutes past next season.

Your only shot is maybe taking a swing at a Chandler type, and hoping that he can provide spacing and defence for positions 2-4. How many of these sorts of players are out there?

I think if we can identify a few options, it might make me more okay with losing Derrick. As for now though? Sheesh. This is depressing to think about choosing between George and Derrick.

Dante and Trey are both young, but I don't know if they're going to develop quick enough to capitalize on the peak of Hayward.

Channing Frye
Ersan Ilyasova
Donatas Motiejunas
Thaddeus Young
Kenneth Faried
Serge Ibaka
Paul Millsap
Aaron Gordon

Obviously some of these players we'd have to get in a package for Favors, or maybe Bolomboy develops. In some ways he reminds me of Favors as a rookie, but better rebounder and more of a high energy guy.

With all of that said, Is it written in stone that we can't keep both Hill and Favors? I'm not sold on Hill being the guy over Favors. I think we have a starting pg in training in Exum. I think it's easy to forget how young he is, and that this is only his second season.

The argument for Favors over Hill is the fact that he is younger, and has good chemistry with Gobert and forms a great center rotation with Gobert. When Gobert comes out we don't lose much as far as rim protection goes. That's not something we should be looking to get rid of anytime soon. How long will Hill play at the level he has this year? He could have a good 4-5 years or just 1-2 years at this level where as Favors has yet to hit his prime and still improving IMO.

IMO I'd rather keep Favors at this point, also it's only Lyles second year. Still has a high ceiling.

I've thought about this a lot. I probably lean toward re-signing Boris to a 1-2 year deal (as a sort of stopgap/insurance measure) this summer and look to trade Burks, the OKC 1st and GS 1st to move up in the draft if there's a 4 to be had. I think some of this is dependent on how Bolomboy develops too.

Almost everything depends on the details of the new agreement with the players. Until we know what those numbers look like, we won't have a great idea if it can help us hold onto our players without killing us with the luxury tax.

We can't extend them both if we keep JJ and Diaw. Can we keep all our guys longterm? NO, but we can keep all of our major pieces next year. We can lock up a lot of talent on longterm deals and then have a treasure chest full of solid trade chips. Sit back and wait for the phone to ring.

To me, it is Hill over Favors for sure. Look how well the Jazz have performed with Hill on the floor: he has made a huge difference for the this team. When he and Hay have been together, the Jazz have dominated, and that is already without Favors.

I am not sure that Favors and Rudy are a good mix. Yeah, its nice to have two defenders like that but on offense they get in each others way and others way. The court has been more open this year for Hay and Hill and Hood to get into the lane. Without being able to stretch the floor Favs clogs it up.

And finally, I am extremely worried about Favors body failing him already. No major injuries but these little ones nag and cost him a lot of time and game production.

6. Too expensive
7. Interesting, but probably still too expensive.
8. Not attainable from the Magic

Lyles is our #1 long-term option to replace Favors. Dal dumb for questioning otherwise.

Is there anyone on this list who is affordable and you would want to play over Trey Lyles? My answer is no.

The only person I'd consider outside of Lyles is Millsap if he is in the "I'm coming back to the place that started my career on a discount so I can contend for a ring" mode. He is a free agent in 2018.
