Hayward is gone

I'm sorry but the amount of attention and alarm that this thread has generated leads me to believe that we're talking about Jehovah on Christmas Day. Last time I checked, Hayward was not the most important player on this team, Gobert is. Sorry but it's true and I dare you to convince me any differently. We have a player coming back that we could plug in for Hayward and not miss a beat named Alec Burks. (Now I'm getting controversial but I do believe it - not sure you guys know what Burks can do with the green light.) I mean I like Jehovah Hayward and hope he sticks around, but I'm certainly not going to lose any sleep about it. Anyway if Hayward was awol maybe Snyder would think to find somebody else to bail us out at crunch time.

Damn, that's a hardcore sample size. How many cupcakes are in there?

Hayward has like seven seasons of proof that this team and organization isn't good enough. 4 disappointing playoff games to be a part of for his time here. And everyone likes the activity from the front office this season but that was long overdue. I doubt Hayward was happy with them standing pat and doing nothing the previous offseason.

You don't know what you're talking about. Hayward is happy. Read his blog.

Even with the injuries, Jazz beat Spurs and Rockets, got close at home vs GS. Pretty close with the Raptors too. So yeah, sample is enough, they do pretty will even with the injuries and they're among the best.

You don't know what you're talking about.

Burks ? LMAO...... He's not even a pimple on Hayward's a$$.

I agree on Goberts importance.

Teams need a Big, A Wing and a point guard. We have 2 of the 3.

Keep in mind with Burks is the athlete keeping his body healthy and in shape. Hayward usually plays 77 games a year which is pretty good.

Also, Hayward is still playing with taped broken finger all year....not bad.

I do agree Hayward walking is not the end of the world but it will be a void and Burks does not fill it...

In addition to Pay check and team success I think another huge factor for Hayward staying is whether his Wife is happy and wants to stay or wants to move. I could see that swaying him one way or the other. He missed Olympics to be with his Daughter. Get his Wife some good friends!

I agree, I mentioned it earlier in the thread:

"I still think he's going to go for a change. He's a very smart dude and will go for what makes him and his wife happy. I think the lure of a big change will be a compelling factor."

To think Hayward is automatically gone is presuming Hayward has no concept of injuries and how they have affected the team.

Not to mention HE was one of the wounded ones. I think it comes down to how he feels about many of his let downs in the 4th quarter. If he wants to not have the ball in his hands, he will go to a different team. If he wants that pressure, wants to be game winner (or loser), he'll stick with Utah.
Outside of the Warriors, Cavs and SA, who already have superstars at his position, what other team would be a contender by adding him? Utah has a better team than Boston, IMO. His best shot remains with Utah, where he can make the most money, score 20+ throughout the first 45 mins and let Hood and (hopefully) Hill take the clutch shots down the stretch.

I agree with this, and think it's among the factors he'll consider. Lately he has shied away from being the man down the stretch. After watching the last few minutes of the Toronto game and what happened in the Sacramento game I felt like maybe he doesn't want to be the man, with all the pressure that comes with it. But he also didn't have Rodney or George in those games.

You are really analyzing this wrong. Hayward does not want the ball in his hands as much as he has had it the past few years, that's the whole reason he and the team wanted an actual PG. He wants to go to a team that plays like a team and has playmakers to help him. This is how pretty much every player feels, even the top-tier talents.

Hayward isn't going anywhere unless we decide to trade him or not offer him the five year megamax. I'm slightly worried we can't keep Hill and that may factor in a bit... but I feel like we are in the drivers seat there and there may be some okay plan b options at pg. if we didn't have Hill I think we could have dragic without giving up a prime asset... there are some options.

Anyone saying the money is the same isn't paying attention. Anyone saying there are better basketball situations isn't paying attention. I'm not even sure San Antonio would be better for him. Their best player plays the same position and they'd have to clear some space... Boston doesn't have max space and outside his coach there is no reason to go there... they aren't beating Cleveland... honestly they aren't beating Toronto. The Lakers are said to be suitors... again less money and a worse situation. Hayward doesn't strike me as the guy who even wants that kind of spotlight.

Everyone take a nap and rest easy. He's not leaving unless our front office opens the door... and they have been pretty consistent with their view.

He'll do what ever he wants, and no one here knows what that will be.

ASB will tell us where the Jazz are and I'm sure he'll make a decision to leave by then. I would hope he would tell Dennis he intends to leave so the Jazz can work out a trade with his preferred destination.

If we're still hobbled and middling by ASB, I think he will look else where.

I have a feeling hes gone. I mean something just feels a little off.

Why are there articles saying hes happy but its "complicated"? What the hell is complicated?
He was given the team, and supporting cast to win. Why would he leave that?

Something about this whole situation feels a little icky, and that either means STD or he's gone. Or both.

It's journalist trying to create stories so they can keep their jobs. Making a mountain out of a molehill is what they do.

If he walks y'all gonna be wishing we had signed 20ppg with a championship ring and gold medal, Harrison Barnes this summer. one of the best isolation players in the league.

No way u can convince me they wouldn't have a slightly better record with Barnes right now(instead of Johnson and Diaw) considering all the injuries..

Harrison Barnes at max money is a horrible idea.

Riddle me this. Who's a better player to run Isolation offense thru Harrison Barnes or Joe Johnson? Hint; It's not even close.
Who is way overpaid and would cripple the jazz going forward with his huge contract? Hint, it's not even close. (How them mavs doing with barnes running the show anyway?)

Maybe the difference of a max starter v an 11 million role player.

I'd take Hood and Hayward over Barnes.
