What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

Think I've mentioned him here once before but just incase. 6'11 Aussie Jacob Epperson is well underrated at around 50 by most scouting services. He's an obvious pro prospect, also probably the 3rd best big still available in the 2017 class behind likely lotto picks Mo Bamba and Brandon McCoy.

He's very athletic and has a nice foundation for a broad-based skillset. Creighton's telling him he's similar to Justin Patton at the same stage..

Taurean Thompson on Syracuse this year kinda reminds me of John Collins, who's now blown up out of the Jazz range, last year as a Freshman. advanced scoring instincts.

There is some dude on Louisville named "Quentin Snider" which is basically just the black version of Quin Sndyer.

Mahmoud has made so many excellent plays in winning time... the deflection he had in the 2nd half with like a minute to go was a GREAT play

Down goes Baylor. Knew they were in trouble when I saw 0 points and 2 rebounds for Motley at the half.

LaGerald Vick might be the closes thing to Alec Burks that I've seen since, I suspect NBA teams are higher on him than we're led to believe...

I wouldn't hesitate to take him with that Warriors pick. He seems to me like the type who will thoroughly impress in team workouts and rise up boards late in the process.

WVU lost and never should have but S/o to one of the more underrated/underappreciated PG's in the nation Jevon Carter, who I'd take over Briscoe probably. He's easily one of the best on-ball defenders around.

Lots of lil updates from DX's mock in the past few days.

-John Collins continues to rise, all the way past Giles and into the fringe-lottery range.

-Jarron Blossomgame finally drops out of the 1st. Been complaining about that for months.

- Semi Ojeleye debuts in the top-45!!! been posting bout him here for months.

Word is INSEP product (originally from Haiti) 6'6" wing, Yves Pons will play for Tennessee next year.

He's a freak athlete in the mold of Derrick Jones Jr (or perhaps Jordon Varnado @ Troy)... Definitely a player to watch.. His pro potential is seemingly underrated on the lists of best euro's born in '99 IMO.. he's raw tho.

Edit - Since Derrick Jones was mentioned. I really hope he wins the contest. He shoulda been drafted, had him on my bigboard in the final update.

Another 2017 pick gets traded today in a good move for both teams. I particularly like the move for Orlando lots of upside if they hit on the pick, and they strike while the irons hot, Ibaka would've likely walked this offseason for no return... They move Gordon back to his more natural PF spot and get a real shooter at SF.

This screams Hezonja's getting moved.

Many are overemphasizing them trading a lottery pick for a lesser one in this draft, the difference is not what they think it is, there will be lottery talents on the board after the lottery.. The cap implications of Orlando's recent moves have been understated as well from the fan reactions I've seen.

Can't help but think the Jazz had the assets to make this move for Ibaka but chose to stick with Favors or maybe they don't want to give up a pick or maybe Burks..

Not sure if I've addressed this thought here before:
When I first sorted through videos of Harry Giles, I wondered - Why was he ever considered as a potential 1st pick? His toolkit looks like he belongs in the 90s

He's got 2-way upside, they thought he could do it all.. He's got great lateral quickness, enough to really hedge out on the perimeter. Prototype size, runs like the wind, great feet and great hands, explosive, coordinated, advanced, great instincts, he can shoot, he can handle, block shots, he can faceup and backdown.. He's really a smart kid and definitely a winner IMO.

Harry Giles was clearly a better HS prospect than Derrick Favors, and I hold Favors in high esteem in those sort of conversations, I've always said Favors was a good measurement (one reason was because they always used to say the word 'prototype')

I have to ask what was your initial opinion on Ivan Rabb? who used to be #1 in the class years back... Rabb and Giles will always be linked in my mind, they both looked like lottery picks to me a long time ago.

Check out this footage from him as a freshman(14 years old).. Impressive stuff. totally the type of thing you don't see every year, certainly not from a legit 6'9" freshman...

Not long on Brown, certainly not as long as you, but I been talking bout Semi here since he was a freshman.

I win the 'me first' pissing contest, pipe down.

Used to think my call on De'Aaron Fox would be my best here because of how early the shot was called. I've already surpassed it tho with the mentioning of Zion Williamson summers back..before he was a big deal.. back when there was just a video or 2 of him on YT..months before MOST scouting services debuted him in their rankings.

In fact I've already pointed out "the next KD" who's currently in 7th grade.. Those future draft threads serve as a challenge for anyone to spot a 'can't miss' as early as possible IMO.. Not just for HS kids but maybe College Fr. that will need a few years such as you're claiming with Ojeleye

Maybe I'm the weird one here, but watching videos of young boys isn't something I'd be proud of.

Why does somebody have to be weird? As a sports fan, it's fun to watch people who have elite talent practice their craft - regardless of age . But just because you don't like watching until they reach whatever age, doesn't make you weird either.
