Andy Larsen Article on Favors

I don't really care what the guy believes in... he'd be a much better fit at PF than any of our other current options... outside of JJ but he can't play too many minutes there imo.

I'm wondering if he overworked himself this past off-season to get into shape and thus put too much strain on his body.

I could swear I've heard some of this somewhere before:

- Favors doesnt fit next to Gobert
- Favors probably should be traded because he will probably just leave
- Extending Favors isnt a sure thing and maybe a bad idea
- He is injury prone maybe long term
- His value isnt guaranteed to get better if we wait to trade him
- He is not as happy as everyone makes him out to be
- Jazz are in win now mode due to some worry over Hill and Hayward

Based on the article and just logic in general, we would be fortunate to get somebody who can help much less somebody as good as Millsap or Love.

Did you read the article? He went into the off-season injured and it limited how much he could do.

So like we can say the injury concerns are completely significant now right? I mean a whole offseason, end of last year, this year, honestly other than just a career ending injury or microfracture surgery this is the worst kind of injury issue.

No idea. Just seems weird since he has never had surgery. Hopefully another off-season of work towards losing weight will help him.

C'mon bro, name me one 25-year old who has had his career shortened by an article written by Andy Larsen.

I think there is a decent chance we regret trading Favors if it happens. But I think I have come around to trading him or at least trading for another starting PF. It seems he will never be fully healthy. Although the Jazz knows a lot better what is going on with him so maybe they think he can be back to how he was early last season. Although the fact that they never seemed to try to work on an extension isnt a great sign. Maybe they are playing him more to get him traded instead of shutting him down for a longer amount of time, who knows.

I would be okay with Love. Although his injuries concern me as well but he could fit well although his defense is atrocious but it cant be worse than Diaw's. Love is going to struggle to guard the PFs of this league. He is going to struggle switching as much as the Jazz do on defense. But he is good offensively. I think I would still take last seasons healthy Favors over him but that guy might not exist anymore.

I dont like him at all and it would be rough to cheer for him but I would be okay with Boogie. If we didnt give up too much to get him that could be the best player possible. He has the most potential to make us title contenders. He also might kill all our chemistry and send the team into the ****ter but I think the risk is worth it.
Multiple league sources said the Magic turned down the chance to deal Nikola Vucevic and either Evan Fournier or draft picks to the Kings
It seems like we could offer that much for him. Favors Burks and some picks? Not quite as good but they Magic did turn down that offer so Sac might take less. Maybe giving up Hood and Lyles?

I have always been okay with picking up Millsap if we dont give up much for him. I dont think we can retain him or should retain him, since he is getting old and will probably get a very high offer. But if we could trade the GS pick or something of that value or lower, great. He isnt going to win us the title this year and he would probably be gone next so its hard to justify him.

I am not sure he is on the trade block but Patterson would be a good pickup if we didnt give up too much as well. He is also a UFA so I would not want us to give up too much.

I dont think they are available but Dieng or Mirotic might be worth a try. Mirotic is not shooting that well this year but maybe having better spacing and a new team would help. I am not sure what it would take.

I would like Ilyasova but I dont think he is up for trade but he is also a UFA. We could pursue him (and many others, lots of PF UFAs) in the off season or 76ers but trade him for very little since he probably leaves in the off season.

Thadeus Young would be a good fit. Pacers are in a win now mode so I am not sure what we could give them that they would want but he would fit well here.

I wish we had just retained Booker. He isnt a stretch guy but we could have really used him this season and his energy.

Wilson Chandler would be a good pickup. I am guessing they are still asking for a first round pick for him.

I dont think Brook Lopez could work with Rudy defensively since neither can guard PFs well enough and/or Gobert should be chasing stretch 4s out to the perimeter anyways. Which is unfortunate since offensively they could work together very well. The Nets might be asking too much for him as well and probably other teams would give up more for him than the Jazz would/should.

Faried would be fun to have but he would probably muck of the offense too much. The same goes for Nerlens Noel, although I think his asking price is too much and they are trading Okafor most likely instead.

James Johnson could be a decent fit. He can play some defense and shoot the three.

I am not sure of anyone else but I am sure I missed a few and a bunch of these are unlikely. Just who popped in my head. Although again I think a healthy Favors is better than most or a lot of these. The Jazz FO know a lot better what Favors is dealing with and his future. We also have to consider he has low trade value so we have to give up other assets to get someone.

I wonder if Chicago would go Taj and their first rounder for Favs.

They'd potentially have the space to re-sign him while he's under control. He might work well with Butler.

Milwaukee for Teletovic and their first rounder?

My goal would be to get a decent replacement and a draft pick to get another chance at getting a cheap contributor.

The more I consider the realistic trades the more I think we just chill until draft time and see what is available then. First round picks generally drop in price on draft night.

I dont know if I could handle or enjoy watching boogie each game.

Yeah I read that article the other day, It sucks that Favors is struggling I know he really likes Utah and wants to prove his talent but it just hasn't been his year. However I don't think the jazz trade him anytime soon because I don't think his value is high enough to do it and there really isn't reason to do it unless you can get a comparable talent which I don't think we will. You just hope he can turn the corner at some point this season and look like D-Fav of old.

Sounds like Boogie is going to the Pels T.G., dude's a cancer.

What about somebody like Olynick or Amir Johnson? Seems like that team could use a low post presence and we could use a stretch.

The Celtics are a playoff team, they arent giving up their rotation pieces.
