What's new

Sources: Utah has expressed interest in re-acquring Deron Williams

Mavs will buy him out. Jazz will pay more than Cleveland can offer. Then Jazz waive Mack and he'll sign with Cavs for minimum. Everyone gets what they want. No one loses draft picks.

Sounds great to me. I hope it happens. The only problem I see is why Dallas would want to buy out Deron when they could have received something for him.

Mavs waived him. How do waivers work?

If you have 10 million in capspace, you can sign him right now. If you ninja sign him, he may be disgruntled though. You are also on the Hook for whatever is left on his contract. If no one signs him during that period, he is a free agent and can sign a new contract while still collecting his old contract from the Mavs.

Jazz don't have enough capspace to sign him off of waivers.

He has a no trade clause, and not many teams were interested in a half year rental at 10 million dollars. That would have been 20 million for a team over the cap (like Cleveland.) Likely Cuban was doing D-Will a favor.

I'd go for Bogut and Williams. I'd prioritize Bogut > Williams.

Get Hill, Favors and Deron in a room and stack up 13.6M on the table! First to sign his R&E/contract gets it!

We have like 14M in space... we could claim him for sure.

I heard from someone on jazzfanz that only teams under the cap can even go after dwill. Is cleveland under the cap? (I wouldn't think so with kyrie, love, lebron, etc)

So could we now offer him a two or three year deal if he clears waivers? If waived and clears waivers does he get the Mavs money and our new money or just the Mavs money?

I still believe... come here DWill... sending good vibes out.

In other news... worst deadline day ever...

I don't think the Jazz sign anyone. They could have traded for any of these guys at a relatively small price looking at the deals that were done. Deron was waived for heavens sake. The fact that they wouldn't pay a small price via trade leads me to believe they are not really interested. I hope to see them do something but it just doesn't look like it will happen.

Or...... what if dallas was asking for a first round pick for dwill. Jazz didn't bite. Mavs waive dwill. Jazz pick him up and dont lose any assets.
To me, if they get dwill, then they played it perfectly.

There's talk that the waiving was incorrectly reported. Now there's talks of a probable buyout

I think they have one of the highest salaries in the league.

Sweet!
So who would even be competing with the jazz for dwill? Seems like everyone went insane last summer spending wise so the jazz should have a good chance at deron
