This is not a good take because the situation is not that grim.. lemme explain..
*Now if you're convinced the organization is cheap and will continue with cost-cutting maneuvers after the 3 are secured, only then can I see where you're coming from.. it seems all indications are that they'll spend and have been preparing to do so..
Even if they overpay "the big 3", Thats not the final nail in the coffin for the supporting cast... Now it certainly limits the moves they can make and the quality of some of those moves. RFA's like Hood can be retained nomatter what.
It's going to relegate them into really searching far-and-wide for great value which I'd say is something we've been seeing from GSW for a while now. Looking for underpaid vets(or underpaid youngins a la Aminu years back...) willing to sacrifice salary for being on a good team and also pinpointing players in the draft to be developed for very specific roles, and hitting on them..
Those are the keys to "dumpster diving"/value-seeking/buy-low tactics, if you will, and they'd be absolutely vital if the Jazz go down that path.
This is in-part why I'm sure the long-term ramifications of hitting another homerun in this draft is being understated(simply because the picks aren't that high)..
