Kobe Bryant fined $100,000 for dropping double F-bomb

NBA Commissioner David Stern issued a swift disciplinary ruling after the Los Angeles Lakers’ five-time NBA champion guard cursed and used the homophobic slur when referee Bennie Adams called a technical foul on him during the third quarter of a victory over the San Antonio Spurs.

I hate Kobe, but I'm not sure 100,000 fine was the right call. I think a one game suspension would have been more appropriate.

Sources close to both Kobe and the ref also say that after the incident, Kobe was overheard saying "Sorry, I didn't mean it", and "call me."

I really wish it would have been a 1 game suspension with him sitting out last night versus the Kings. Damn....

Heat of the moment. Who cares.

Do you use those words in the heat of the moment? I dont.

Do you really want to know what Sloanfeld says in the heat of the moment? I don't!

I do feel that a fine AND a suspension for one game would've been appropriate, except perhaps not a game during the playoffs. But a suspension, particularly of one of your star players, puts the entire team on notice more so than just the fine and would perhaps do more to help discourage that sort of language in general.

General question - - if a player is suspended, does he also have to forego his salary on a prorated basis for the length of the suspension?

How big was the rock?
