What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

Who has Mo Bamba? That's my dude next year simply based on his name.

Heavy lean towards UK. He's gonna be #1 on my board in the next 2018 mock I throw together. Teams who pass on him will rue the day. He's entrenched in that top spot on the board too..

I saw some article that compared him to Rudy leading up to the game.. There's obviously some marked differences but thats the kind of shotblocker people think he can be.. Same wingspan as Rudy too 7'9", which is an inch longer than Wilt Chamberlain..

He looks pretty damn built too, not nearly as rail thin as most dudes in that length class at that age.

DeAndre Ayton and Michael Porter are clear #1 and #2 on my big board. Mo Bamba is #3 and Doncic is a close #4.

I'm actually starting to think there's an outside shot Mitchell Robinson ends up better than Ayton.. He's certainly got unreal talent, both of them do.. He's in striking distance, i'm telling ya, he's not the top ranked big but they don't make em like that every year, not even close..

Take a look at this..

To be clear tho the bigs at the top of this class are all really good.. it's unfortunate for most of them they're all in the same class.

I mean look at Ikey Obiagu.. he's ranked in the 70's in this class.. that **** is a formation of the breadth of talented bigs, not his overall talent level..

DeAndre Ayton will be the best player in this draft class and I'm surprised you are disrespecting him by saying Mitchell Robinson could end up being better than him.

I think Deandre Ayton is dumb and it worries me slightly. I mean, have you heard his explanation for choosing Arizona? I wish I never did TBPFH. I'm not gonna get into it further tho. Not a conversation I wanna have about a teenager.

I've said before that Bamba has a better head on his shoulders but it's extremely unreasonable to hold Ayton to that standard.

Mo Bamba is the #1 prospect in the class and it's gonna take a series of small miracles to knock him off that spot. He could easily be #1 on my board from the day after to the 2017 draft til the day of the 2018 draft. wire-to-wire if u will. Sorta like I had Wiggins pegged.

Mitchell Robinson has a serious claim at being the best 'run-and-jump' athlete in the class.. Thats why I think the Whiteside comp is apt..

Lol do you have a vid of Ayton saying why he chose Arizona? I remember a couple years ago I watched one vid and one interview of Cliff Alexander when he was mocked at #2 and said there's zero chance this guy gets picked in the first round. That guy was an idiot.

I watched it. If it's the one he is talking about it's this: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-b...ranked-prospect-deandre-ayton-chooses-arizona

He just sounds nervous more than flat out dumb, or at least that was my impression.

It's not just this. FWIW - I hope I'm totally wrong and he finds the cure for cancer while shooting 85% ft's.

As Jazzfanz were spoiled rotten with Rudy... He serves as great context tho.. U couldn't ask for a player with better focus....

I'd never have said dumb if I didn't worry just a bit if this could have some affect on the court.. I suspect it might.. It's not all on him either, when you reach DeAndre Ayton status people are gonna line up to pamper you..

I never bought the "best prospect in HS" line either. To me Marvin Bagley will hold that distinction for all 4 years of HS...

Is Bagley the next transcendent player?

BTP Betcha never seen shooting mechanics like this.

Well I mean what else is he gonna do to compensate for his lack of arm length except a full body shot. Kinda looks a lot like how many young, small kids shoot who never learned to shoot properly and want to shoot from a range from where their pure arm strength doesn't allow them to reach the rim.
When I find time to play outdoor on beautiful spring days, I see a lot of kids in the 10-13 yr range jumping towards the basket to extend their range. It's pretty fun for me to offer them some basic shooting practice btw.
Shoulder pointing towards the hoop, keeping the elbow stable, accelerating the ball by unloading the forearm, only using the shooting hand to release(no joakim noah shots), releasing the ball by flicking the wrist, using the index and middle finger to release, having the fingers spread, eyes aiming just below the back iron of the ring. I correct, comment and rebound for them for half an hour while I rest for another 3v3. When I return later I mostly see them up their pcts from a range they're comfortable at by around 10-15% within an hour or two.

I wonder if there are basketball teams for ppl who play without an arm. Kudos to the highschool for letting that kid practice and play with the team. The only disabled basketball sport I know is wheelchair action, but that would probably kill that kid if he had to sit down in one of those and couldn't use his full body to compensate for having no arms and have to release from a lower point in addition.

I think he's gonna be better than Austin Rivers, who's really turned out to be a pretty good player.

He's gonna be better at getting his own shot and attacking the rim than Lonzo, for sure..

I remember when this kid was 5'9" not too long ago.. wait til his athleticism catches up, he's got some starpower for sure...

Lavar says he'll be the best of the bunch.
