What's new

Let us petition the great rally churro GT: Jazz/Spurs

You lost all credibility with the Diaw comments he has been valuable for the team and I think he possesses more basketball iq then you also

I lost credibility because I can do math? The Jazz need to re-sign Ingles and Hill. They need to create cap-space. How do they do that? Getting rid of Diaw for one. He has served his purpose. He is 35 ****ing years old and is a guy who doesnt give a **** about his conditioning. I love what he has done for the team, but he will 1000% be cut or traded as his contract is not guaranteed next year. The Spurs loved Diaw, but at the end of the day they had to trade him to make cap room for better players. Jazz going to make the same progression.

Regarding shelvin mack: he is an average back up point guard. Like neto.

Mack shoots 44% from the field, under 30% from 3, 68% from the line and doesn't get there much. He doesn't get many assists, and his turnovers are kind of high (creating a poor assist to turnover ratio). I think he is probably statistically a poor defender though i could be wrong.

His per 36 numbers. 12.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 2.7 turnovers and 1.3 steals.

Neto shoots 45% from the field, 32% from 3, and 89% from the line. He seems to be a better and more willing passer and seems to be a better defender. (Again I could be wrong)

His per 36 numbers: 10.4 ppg, 3.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists (I'm surprised macks assist numbers are better), 1.6 turnovers, 2.2 steals.

Not much separating the two. I like the toughness of both guys, think they are both pretty confident and both decent leaders.

Honestly I don't care who quin picks to be the backup pg in the playoffs. Neto injury made the decision much easier.

Mack does two things pretty well though: floaters and finishing at the basket going to his right. He is someone who can actually put pressure on the defense when he heads towards the basket unlike Exum or Neto. He just sucks at dribbling and doesnt make quick decisions on the ball.

As far as defensively Neto is better at staying with players, but Mack is better at contesting shots and not getting overpowered/shot over. Exum clearly the best defender of the 3.

As far as mind numbing decision making, Exum takes the cake as he makes the worst mistakes. Jumping into the air and passing it to a defender seems to happen regularly. People might get mad for the offense stalling with Mack, but I dont think that issue is that big or entirely on Mack. Neto is probably the best of the 3 at running offense, but if the ball gets stuck in his hands with time running out its pretty awful. Mack is the only one of the 3 who can make anything happen in those unfortunate situations.

How does lyles average 6 points a game?

He got a lot of minutes earlier in the year and was actually making some shots. The first couple months he was getting like 20 minutes and 10 points a game. In December he was shooting 41% from three. Then the wheels came off. The last two months he doesnt see the court much and cant shoot at all. In March he was down to 20% shooting from the field. He clearly quit or something happened. Maybe dealing with personal stuff or just felt like he was getting the playing time he thought he deserved. Whatever it is it seems like a mental issue.

I hope the Kings franchise either burns to the ground or remains as ****ty as they are in perpetuity.

They had no chance bud. On the road, 2nd game of a back to back, nothing to play for against a motivated Clippers team that is on fire. Not to mention their last loss was to the Kings on the most embarrassing comeback upset in history, so they were extra motivated on top of their previous motivation.

I knew he was good at the beginning of the season. Thanks for breaking it down though. Crazy how much he digressed.

Pretty much agree here. Mack is not a good passer and his mistakes are missing guys when they are open. Exum makes nuclear mistakes that almost every game he has a mistake that turns into a layup. It happens.

If mack is with the bench crew the ball stopping isn't as big of an issue. When he's the starter I think it hurts more... really not his fault. He's not good enough to be a starter.

There is Mack hate every game thread where he makes one bad play.

The Warriors Tv duo Fitz and Barnett summed up Mack's game the other night.
He is worse than meets the eye. Easy to ignore some of his worst features, as he looks for his shot a fair bit.

I'm not pretending X is any better at this point. But the Mack 'hate' is legit.

My respect for the guy is his approach - competitive, professional and always ready to go.
Also, he has a sound handle.

If I was being purely objective based on this year - a healthy Neto prob deserves the backup mins.

Really well played by the Mackster .. he still overdribbles but hats off to him, he's been pretty good since he started playing again, defn cemented his role as backup PG
Dante was dreadful tonight, he has so much work to do in the offseason. Alec did one good spike of the ball tonight, when he gets cut he can take up volleyball !

Really? Dante was dreadful?
What was he being asked to do.

Did Mack play well cause he scored in the 4th against back-up borderline rotation players? As per normal - team was a negative with him on the floor. Mack is a flat track bully. Dante +1 on the night.

Dante wasn't being asked to initiate offense. He got the ball about 4 times in short shot clock situations and was average in those situations. Took two shots all night, one TO and had three assists. He was very sound defensively.

In fact the drive where he dished for AB's 3 was a blueprint for his future I hope.

Will anybody else get this?

I'm an Aussie and I'm not sure I get it?
Are NZ playing in the sub-continent atm and killing it(or being killed)? I think the IPL is on - so not much international cricket.

Maybe it was just a random cricket reference...

I feel like kwahi isn't that great of a defender, could have just been this game. He is always on the side of the person he's guarding not in front and Hayward burned him more than once.

I'm just finishing up watching the game, but I am seriously feeling like we can beat anyone. I imagine it's the clips (who are the biggest worries) then the warrirs, then the spurs...followed by some weak east team. While I won't be disappointed no matter the outcome, I'm definitely feeling a koolaid high.

His DRPM hasn't been great this year.
