What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

I worry that he's a bit soft, but he might have been dealing with old injuries. If he can be more aggressive, especially defensively and on the boards, he could be good.

I don't worry about his rebounding. I think his lack of rebound production was due to Beilein's system. Beilein's teams are almost always terrible rebounding teams. If you look back over all the teams he's coached at Michigan most if not all of his bigs average 5 or 6 rebounds per game tops.

Maybe, I watched about 3 Michigan (full) games on youtube last week and he is just kind of lazy at defensive rebounding. Doesnt track the ball at all and isnt aggressive to the glass. If it doesnt come to him, he isnt going to go get it. He does opt for the leak out strategy more than most PFs, but when he doesnt he still isnt attacking the glass, he is just watching it.

Now I kinda want DJ Wilson. Moves well without the ball. Good potential as a stretch 4, and has some nice athletic ability. Would fit nicely next to Gobert.

I can see potential with him, he's got a interesting skill set but he's got a lot of development to do, he's still figuring things out, has to get stronger physically.

I'm also worried about his injury issues, it's been a problem for him as a college player how will he do with the grind of the NBA?

Who's this Kuzma kid that's touted as the savior? Are we talking about that average role player who played for the Utes? That guy? He's maybe a 2nd rounder. But shouldn't we be looking at improving our Utah jazz roster rather than the d league roster?

He's a smaller slightly more skilled Channing Frye. Nothing to write home about. No thanks. Far better options in the first round. Preferably options that will avg more than 4 pts per game in their nba career.

If we really want to waste a pick drafting a local player, draft Mika. Far more potential than Kuzma.

He would be a good fit. Not sure I trust the shot. Shoots it a bit flat. Kuzma better player/shooter.

His release is compact and quick and his %s are good, even his FT% is in the 80s, a lot of the indicators for translating his shot to the NBA are good. I trust his shot much more than Lyles/Kuzma's shot.

The thing about Allen is a big knock on him is his desire/motor. His rebounding numbers were mediocre at best for a guy his size and playing his minutes. A lot of potential there though if he learns to play hard.

You know potential and learning how to play hard are red flags for me.

What we need and missing most on this team is guys who are energy players, and some nasty.
Does this guy fit the bill?

Jordan bell. He's that. I'd take him at 30. He's that tough energy guy Tristan Thompson/Young Millsap/Mini DeAndre Jordan who could come in off the bench, ignite the crowd with a few facials, offensive boards, and blocks.

Ya, agreed. Wilson really seems underrated in this draft, and no doubt in my mind he's a better shooter then Kuzma

I agree with Bell. He'd be solid at 30, and Semi Ojeleye.

I like Bell... would love to know how the organization views Bolomboy. He looked solid and like he could be that energy big and maybe shoot a little.

I only watched Bell in the tournament and he was phenomenal in those games so I'm not sure I have a good read on him. Does seem like defense and rebounding should translate and he's a good passer. He missed some key blockouts that left a bad taste... hopefully he gets more disciplined there and relies less on his athleticism. I'd be happy with him at 30 or 42.

With so many bigs to choose from, and with us already have an interesting prospect in Bolomboy I wish we picked Booker. Lyles doesnt excite me in the slightest. I would rather have so many people in this draft than his weak ***.

It hurts a lot. Trey had ample opportunities to take the job and absolutely just sucked... then "checked out" per Locke... that is the most troubling part of the whole deal. Add to the fact that we needed to add a third big to the rotation and kind of drafted for need and I think it made it worse. We could have filled the need with a proven guy and drafted Booker as a 5th wing and brought him along slowly. Just seemed more ideal... he was obviously ready for more. That one just hurt.

Bell is interesting because he provides the shot blocking but moves his feet as well. Could see him as a hyper active Favors in our defense... more passing, but likely not as good around the basket moving guys when Favs was healthy.

I may like him more than Bam personally. Bell kind of reminds me of Dwayne Dedmon. The motor is a hard thing to teach.

I'd be curious where everyone stands with Lyles vs. Bolomboy. I'd honestly rather move Lyles to even let Bolomboy be the primary 4 backup. Would rather he gets consistent rotation minutes than yo-yo with Lyles.

Yep.

Had we drafted Booker instead of Lyles we'd be the #2 team in the west right now. That was a miss of epic proportions.

We can't have that this year.

That's why I don't like some of these shooting, maturity, and/or work ethic warning flags that im seeing in some of these players. We need to score big this draft. We either need to trade up and get one or the top players or nail some pretty solid prospects with zero questions about their work ethic where we are drafting at. I like Semi, Bell, and Jackson.

I thought Lyles looked pretty checked out the last few months of the season. I remember seeing him regularly laughing and giggling on the bench during games. He just didn't seem to take things seriously nor care that he was a lotto pick contributing absolutely zero for a team sorely in need to contributions from the 4.

When 40 year old 500 lbs Boris Diaw plays in front of you and it doesn't light a fire, what will?

I'd like to see dead wood like Burks and Lyles traded. I don't care what we get in return. But it seems like all parties would be best served with trades.

Lyles especially. His demeanor was worse than Kanter's or Exum's. Kanter had terrible body languages but still managed to play hard (albeit it was selfishly). Exum up until the last game of the playoffs seemed to lack confidence. But Lyles just flat out doesn't seem to care. It wouldn't surprise me if he were busted for weed this offseason.

I agree with this also. I think he has potential to start next to gobert also
