What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

In the Celtics/Wizards series, Wall and Porter were going at Isaiah Thomas on every single possession. A small guy who can't survive on defense can't stay on the floor for a good team.

The standards are higher for a team that wants to win 50+ games.

Boston won that series with the little guy getting major minutes, and they don't have a Gobert to back up IT when he gets beat.

I would generally agree that I prefer length and defensive ability at the PG spot, but I think Utah could cover for a small PG who can shoot the lights out.

Yeah, but IT was historically great on offense. That is what is needed to offset being small and crappy at defense.

Just crossing my fingers Okobo stays in the draft. I think he could be a stash guy that could end up being a great steal. Better prospect than Frank Jackson IMO.

But I was expecting him to go before the jazz and push some one else down.

Anyone expected to go higher that pulls out sucks

Fair enough. I think he probably would have gone early 2nd round. I could see the Jazz or Spurs taking him at 29/30, but everyone else in the late first probably wants more NBA ready prospects.

IT's Junior season- 16.8 PPG, 31.9 MPG, 51.2 2pt fg%, 34.9 3pt fg%, 71.9 ft%, 117.4 offensive rating
Keene's Junior season- 30.1 PPG, 37.6 MPG, 51.3 2pt fg%, 36.8 3pt fg%, 81.9 ft%, 113.9 offensive rating

Pac-12 vs MAC

Oh, and his team's record was awful (2nd to last) in MAC play.

Wondering if DL will entertain trading down for money again. We have the 42nd pick again - last year he sold it for 3M and we drafted Bolomboy at 55.

Washington was up by 8 in the 3rd quarter of Game 7 until IT was taken out. When he went to the bench, the Celtics turned the game around. The Wizards still would have won if John Wall didn't go into brick mode in the 4th quarter.

But yeah, having Gobert and other help defenders helps for sure.

I think there will be a player worth taking at 42. Last year, there wasn't a player they really wanted, and they were confident that they could get Bolomboy with their later pick. They still might trade the pick, but it has value. A team could pick up Oliver, Bacon, maybe Frank Jackson, etc. at 42.

If we don't take a draft and stash guy (and their aren't many) with 24 or 30 I'll bet we move that pick for cash and a future second rounder. Many teams will be looking to sell/buy on draft night. Lots of teams with multiple picks.

Or we'll give it along with a future 2nd to a team willing to take Alec Burks' contract.

I think DL would do the same if there were a few guys he liked who would likely be there at the pick we'd trade down for. I agree - there should be some potential rotation guys at 42 - which is why teams might be willing to give us a nice offer.

After Whitehead it was pretty weak - I know Zipser got taken later on and we landed Bolomboy.

I made an error in the last post too - we took Paige with the NJ pick and Bolomboy was the Boston/Memphis pick at 52.

I don't think we do that until after we know about Hayward, Hill, etc.

I don't think we make a trade pre-draft unless it deals with draft picks. Our pick for a player or maybe the OKC pick. I don't think we acquire a pg before the draft.

The more I've thought about it... I'm just not sure I'd trade Burks right now... if Hayward leaves we will need someone to play the wing... why not run Burks out and see if he can stay healthy.

Don't sleep on Biggie. Jazz would control the boards of Gobert and Biggie on floor. Plus he has Utah connections and y'all should build a home grown team since your never going be players in free agency. Frank Jackson I dif take of him Utah. That kid has potential
Tj leaf is going be a solid player In league. Would love to see Jokic and him team up
Semi is not very good. One season out up numbers in a conference that wasn't very good. He couldn't even see time at the 4 while at duke and duke had limited bigs. He not very good. As a second rounder if take the gamble but a fool if round one . At best case he like a 9th man on the bench. Practice player at best. Tj leaf if he there you take him. Robert and his gsme would play off each other nicely. I like Leaf more then Zach Collins

Man, it's quite shocking that Jonathan Jeanne has been diagnosed with Marfan syndrome. The same thing Isaish Austin had back in 2014. Anyone knew about this? I just read an article about it just now. smh
