Woj: Jazz 'confident' Hayward will stay

This is kinda funny to me.

I don't think neither Haslem or Whiteside has ever spoken more than a few words to Hayward his entire NBA career. Now they're tasked with trying to persuade him to sign with the Heat.
They will tell Gordon how great the beach is and how great the nightlife is without knowing he's a pasty home body that plays video games.

Kevin o Conner says his sources say Hayward is most likely headed to Miami... bill Simmons says him and Stevens are friends so that's why he's coming to Boston.

Meanwhile the guy has been openly talking to jazz management and coaching staff. We have the best defensive player in the league (**** you draymond), we just acquired a pass first point guard, and his best friend from the last few years (Ingles) ain't going nowhere. My sources say get off our damned lawn he's staying.

As in... theeee Kevin O Connor? link?

who wouldn't rather play with Gobert and Rubio instead of Dragic and Whiteside a thousand times over? From the perspective of roster composition, I don't even understand the threat that Miami poses.

I agree the rosters are not comparable, Pretty much every position is superior with the Jazz. The Jazz are probably better than Miami without Hayward than Miami is with Hayward. I think the only argument Miami has is that Pat Riley can build a championship. I assume he has some big plan that he will pitch that includes another big star joining them.

I think Jazz w/o Hay >> Miami w/ Hay

I like some of his stuff but him and bill Simmons are sooooooo sure Hayward was headed there. It is so annoying... they think the celtics are soooo much better than the Jazz. We would have steam rolled the eastern conference even on one leg.

I do think Oladipo was a bad fit next to Westbrook. Oladipo needs the ball in his hands to be effective, he's just not a spot up shooter, but Westbrook is ball dominant. It was destined to fail to begin with.

I wouldn't be surprised if IND let Oladipo lose at the point some and see if he can play the position. What is there for them to lose by doing that? He can break down the defense, give the ball to Turner and Sabonis who are both great 3 point shooters already at this stage in their career.

OK, it wasn't the haul that CHI got, but PG also ain't Butler...

Sabonis is a great 3-pt shooter?

In what world?

Quoting Kevin O'Connor on twitter "Three league sources sense the current favorite for Gordon Hayward is Miami. Reasons: better lifestyle, Spoelstra, and feature scoring role" .

Sounds like none of this coming from anyone close to Gordon.

Just saw this. Heat forums hanging their hats on this and acting as though it's a foregone conclusion.

Yeah I saw that tweet and I just can't fathom it being correct in any way. Maaaybe the warmth and the beach would be preferred by Robyn, but they have a home in San Diego that's a short plane ride away. But nothing else about the "lifestyle" makes sense. Spoelstra is a good coach, but Gordon knows Snyder and he's had a good relationship with him. And featured scoring role? That's what he's getting in Utah.

Honestly, it sounds like someone making up reasons why Miami would be better than Boston.

Miami is the poor mans Utah in every way:

Snyder>Spo
Rudy>Whiteside
Ricky>Dragic
City Creek>>>>South Beach

#%@* outta'here

I think its just far more interesting for these guys to discuss Hayward leaving. Hayward coming back does not interest other fan bases.

Yep, Gordon staying is a boring story. Anyone can take a shot at predicting where he'll go, and if they happen to be right they can claim they have "reliable sources."

Everyone knows Hayward is not a homebody. He likes hittin the clubs and the beaches. He's not the kind of guy to sit home and play video games...
