[Jones]BREAKING: Jazz willing to engage Celtics in S&T talks: But Gordon Hayward must agree

No matter what happens I'm excited to see what this team becomes. In all reality Gordon was a leader due to tenure and being the best scoring option and not by leading. Then Rudy asserted himself.

This will now be Rudy's team and the others will be expected to take on the don't take any **** attitude.

For me it's well done DL for not panicking and doing something just for the sake of doing something. To me the writing was on the wall when I saw DL walking around doing interviews at SL rather than in the war room hashing out trade details.

I'd rather we stand pat and build around Exum, Hood, Mitchell, Gobert than get someone out of a knee jerk reaction to losing Hayward.

Well I'm glad to see you're still so sanguine about everything when DL and the rest of the organization has been behind the curve with Hayward for like forever. Now he fritters away valuable time begging with Boston to give us something back like that dog on the tracks that loses his whole head looking for his shorn tail. Sorry, not satisfied going back to square one when we already have some excellent pieces in place and were regarded as the model of team development last year.

I don't think Denver has room. They are at 92 million and plumlee has a cap hold of 7 million. I guess maybe they let that go and they can take back Crowder. I don't see them offering a pick though for him. He is kind of redundant with Chandler.

I don't know though, I guess Crowder can play pf, so I guess he fits their plan.

The rumor that came out said predraft Ainge wanted a late lottery pick and a young player for Crowder.

I would guess he is trying to look for the same again.

And yet he still has crowder... so he can ask all he wants but clearly the price was too steep then and now the asset has lower value because people know something has to go.

The market for crowder should be robust but he's in an awkward place. They need no salary back... the good teams are kinda tapped out salary wise. Bottom feeders have space but if they are giving a protected pick when will it convey.

I wonder what we offered. I think a lotto protected pick gets it done but teams do weird stuff.

They have 8000 power forwards.

wow. Well, I guess I've gotten so jammed up in the details that I'm confused. This does not sound at all like the truth.

Feel free to give your version. Smart will be a RFA next year while Bradley will be UFA. Crowder is signed for 3 years at less than 8 per. Ainge might not get much value for Smart or Bradley, but there are certainly teams that would give a 2nd for them. Crowder is the only one that should be a guaranteed 1st rounder coming back.

Anybody who wants Crowder is going to have to pay. No point in giving that asset away when you have other options to clear cap.

But like I said, feel free to tell me where you think I am wrong.

I'm sure it is robust... Its why we don't have Crowder right now.

Crowder is on a ridiculously cheap deal. He wants to be moved, Ainge wants to move him. Teams should be lining up. Why aren't they? Cuz he ain't R.C. Buford, he ain't Sam Presti. These guys have scored big wins and nobody hates them for it cuz they lack the vindictive desire that Ainge has. They want to win but it isn't their goal to **** you. Noone views them as a cheap used car salesman. Ainge wants to **** you and laugh at you behind your back. Every GM knows it so they are going to be reluctant to shop there until everything is on a killer sale.

Possibly but Ainge is already viewed as almost a cheater amongst his peers. He has a ton of assets that he needs to cash in in the next few years. This could be his last chance to throw someone a bone. We don't know but it very well may be that Ainge didn't get Butler or George cuz nobody wants to deal with him.
I think Ainge is a man without friends in the circles that are most important to his job. Boston reporters aren't potential trade partners. From what I can tell DL is well liked around the league and considered to be reasonable. If Ainge can't get an honest deal done with him, if he jerks him around or holds his feet to the fire then he may be burning one bridge too many. Add onto that the Crowder situation and he could be seen as a ruthless prick to players that deserve better as well.

I think the Jazz have more leverage than the numbers suggest. Just like any profession there are politics involved that at times can matter just as much as if not more than numbers.

I've posted the same thing several times here, and I agree that Ainge is irritating GMs to the point they go out of their way not to deal with him. I'd be surprised if every GM in the league is going to refuse to deal with him at this point, though.

I believe DA overvalues his assets to the point nobody wants to pay his price, but that doesn't mean we have leverage. There are multiple options here for the Celtics. It would be smarter for DA to sell Smart or Bradley cheap, since he isn't going to get much for them anyway. I just don't see, out of all the options they have, why they have to sell cheap on their best asset of the 3.

Who says teams aren't lining up? Ainge just has a price nobody wants to pay.
