Massive difference.

I just watched the game. I love how 6'3" Mitchell is bullying 6'9" Tatum throughout the game and then baiting him into committing fouls right after putting him on his ***. Beautiful.

For what it's worth - the shot selection from Donovan has been very questionable to say the least. He has the tendency to take shots early in the shotclock that are not good shots and he takes a ton of very hard shots. He's a bit like the jump-shooting version of Alec Burks offensively... only Alec takes them at the rim. Both lead to very spectacular finishes, but are not good for the long-term efficiency of the player.

But he is focused on defense and never stops hustling, something that Alec should take notice of.

You blind?

IKR,you can see the definition in bodytone is taking shape on Exum.I think the Jazz want him firming up but not at the expense of sacrificing hie unique speed and 1st step for his size.
This part I believe in the Jazz ,they worked on Goberts hips and legs for more explosion and twists and turns for rim protection ,more Bill Russel.
Exum looks like he's right on schedule bodywise at 22 yrs old.

It's been four years, mind you.

Durant has little girl arms, and he still manages to play the game. It's not like Dante is going to be guarding PFs in the post or getting pushed around by bigger guards.

He doesn't need to be Blake Griffin. Guys like Griffin and Favors might be better suited to slim down some and take some weight off. Maybe then they'd have less injury issues with less weight coming down on knees/feet/ankles.

I think Dante's just fine and this kinda feels like nitpicking.

Durant plays strong at least. He doesn't let others or the game dictate what he can or can't do. Exam has a nice frame to add another 5-7 pounds of really lean muscle and strength (without losing his quickness), to fill out nicely, and play the game like the man I know he can be.

Maybe I am nitpicking a little. I guess if he didn't look like Mikhail freakin Baryshnikov as he took off to go to the rim, the ball coming loose or being floated like a ballerina gently toward the hoop, I wouldn't feel this way.

Dante Exum's Summer League stats

3 Games Played
27.3 MPG
20 PPG
52.4% FG%
41.7 3FG%
4 3-pt APG
64% FT%
4.7 FTA
4.3 RPG

Decent.

I saw some of the Jazz/Celtics summerleague game replayed on NBATV an hour ago. Exum and Mitchell really jumped off the screen. They were more impactful in the 4th quarter than Tatum. It was clear that Mitchell was getting to Tatum.

Really good summer league from X. Blew away my expectations.

I'm encouraged by the 4 3-pt attempts per game and the 42% shooting, though it's a small sample size.

Exum is now able to drive right or left, and he has enough speed that he was able to blow by the pick-and-roll defense on some occasions like it wasn't even there. He's starting to finish at the rim more, though he's really right-hand dominant on his lay-ins. His scoring rate at the rim was much improved. He didn't face elite rim protection though.

Now its about continuing to improve and shooting more off the bounce.

Do we want to continue this thread or do a new one for Las Vegas Summer League?

Hopefully Mitchell will get some run at the PG spot and get to guard the elite PGs in this draft class.

It was also clear that Mitchell believed that it was HIS job to stop Tatum. He clearly enjoys taking on the best in the moment. Hoping to see more of that down in Vegas.
