Let's cut Bolomboy and sign Butterfield

Probably get brutally pilloried for even suggesting this but hear me out, it makes sense. Bolomboy is redundant at best. We just have so many better options with Jerebko, JJ, and Bradley. (Not at all convinced Bradley shouldn't play the four in spots, he's way too good to be languishing on the pine as a third string center). And at worst, maybe Bolobmboy's just not now, nor will he ever be good enough to play in this league. Sorry, but he's looked like total a$$ in SL and that's coming from a guy that was a believer until recently.

Butterfield can fill it up in bunches without taking a bad shot. Think JJ Redick only more clutch. Set a record overseas last season with eleven threes. Tearing it up in SL. Think about it, undrafted kid brought in for rehab scrimages a couple years ago, gets a deal in Europe because of this etc. etc. This could be epic with book and movie deals. Small town boy makes good. But forget that. Don't we need a reliable scorer at the guard position with Exum, Rubio, Hood, even Mitchell all being a bit streaky. This kid has got ice water in those veins I tell ya.
 
If the Jazz decide to cut Bolomboy, my guess is that they'd do it with the understanding that he's immediately signed to a 2 way contract for the Stars. If that happens, I'd imagine that the Jazz would be signing Eric Griffin instead. If they keep Butterfield, it would be at the expense of Wallace. Both might end up on the Stars either way.
 
I see no way the Jazz cut anyone to sign another 2-guard. The Jazz need another 3/4 more than anything.

But I'll settle for Griffin.

Yup. It was amazing to me last year during the playoffs how many people wanted Bolomboy to play because of his athleticism. Fans always fall in love with one player that doesn't off the bench and then usually when they do get to play you understand why they were on the end of the bench. I am not sure it is time to cut ties with him but his stock has fallen mightily during SL.

And I do love watching Butterfield. Even back in his Aggie days he was a scrapper who could mix it up and shoot it. Tough kid.

He's an elite rebounder. Possibly can shoot from the outside. When Boris and Lyles are combining for 3 rebounds in 36 minutes and shooting 20% from deep, all the suddenly Bolomboy looks pretty good.

I suppose Sometimes fans wanna see young players play even when they're trash.
He's a great D-League player or maybe 13th man (best case scenario). Nothing more.
We should cut him.
He's 23 and he's not an nba level player or prospect.

I know they say he's an elite rebounder but apparently he doesn't actually accomplish this or they would have no choice but to give him minutes

We were getting murdered with Boris on the floor. Surround a guy like Bolomboy with 4 decent players and the only thing you need him to do (rebound) requires no touches or adjustments. Put him around a bunch of ****ty players and expect him to be good and you may get a different outcome.

He is a really good rebounder, but he needs to be a center to be effective. I dont think he has high enough of a bball IQ or dynamic enough to play in 2-big lineups.

Griffin had a really good game. I'd definitely take him over Ballinboy at this juncture. Still I love this kid Butter's stroke from outside, and he can create his own shot. Plus I think he could play some one for us as well.

He can't create his own shot against NBA talent. He has been bad all SL until today where we played an awful Bucks team.

I don't know that we know whether he is or isn't a shooter. What we do know is he shot 47% in D League on 47 attempts, in college he shot 37.1% on 97 attempts, and 1-4 with the Jazz. How many attempts did he have in summer league and what percentage did he shoot that negated all the rest?
 
Looks like Bolomboy shot 1-7 from deep this summer.
 
Yep. He had lots of problems moving the ball against most that defended him. At the NBA level, it would be bad.

You can't be a consistent 3pt shooter from NBA range when you have the kind of shot Bolomboy has. Sizable hitch and shoots it on he way down.
