Tax bill passes in senate 51-49

I didn't get a raise. I did get an extra 40 hours of vacation time though...... But that is just cause this is my 15th year with the company.
In other news, I worked more hours in 2017 than I ever have before and worked harder than ever before while working those hours. I went back through all 52 of my weekly paycheck records and found that I worked overtime 47 weeks out of the 52 weeks in 2017. And of the 5 weeks without working overtime 3 of them were weeks that I was on vacation. It sucked ***. The reward comes tomorrow though as I pay off the remaining balance on my truck. I bought a brand new truck (only 5 miles on it) at the end of october 2016. Have been working as much as possible ever since and paying about 1300 dollars per month on the loan. Tomorrow im finally done paying on it. Just passed the 7,000 mile mark on the odometer yesterday. Whooo mutha ****ing hoooo!!!!!!!

hang in there brother. with unemployment going down. sooner or later demand will be more supply when it comes to work. so you could negotiate a higher loan or get another job.

If companies continue to do this through out 2018 that will be a huge campaign point for the Rs in 2018.

As for Walmart, I really like their new program of contributing up to 5k for an employee trying to adopt. That is really cool. Way to many kids looking for a home and so many potential homes for them are excluded due to the cost. Wish more companies would do this.

He, and the Rs as a group, has a golden opportunity to make major, major inroads with Latino voters. It looks like immigration reform is a major point as the Rs just released a plan. I have not seen it but if they were smart they could really convince a lot of Latinos and non indeondent whites into voting R in 2018. But they are dumb, will pander to "hard liners" and obliterated their opportunity int he worst way possible.

Congrats. Striving to pay off a vehicle was one of the most rewarding things for me. I haven't had a car payment in years and have been thinking about buying another vehicle just for the challenge of paying it off. Dorky.

Also, that's not a small pile of extra playing chips after the last payment is made. Have fun deciding how to spend it.

Probably gonna buy a camping trailer in a month or two. Still wont be as tough to pay as the truck payment was so it will nice to not work so much overtime this year.

If you have a 1/2 ton or bigger then don't settle for less than a fifth wheel. My half ton squats less than an inch when I put my 350 lb slider hitch in and 7560 weight trailer on. That's dry weight, so I'm probably well over of 8500 lbs with the hitch, two 60-70 lb Trojan 6v batteries, propane tanks, a loaded fridge, freezer, and cupboards, and all the gear. A 2016 half ton should have a much higher payload than mine, plus you can always add on a compressor and airbags for a reasonable price if you're worried about your leaf springs getting overloaded. Also, newer trailers are most likely much lighter.

One more thing - buy used. The prices go skydiving after purchase. You'll find something 1/2 the price or less that's only a couple years old and barely used.

A group of 6 senators, 3 Ds and 3 Rs, have reached a tentative deal on immigration. Dealing with border security, DACA, chain immigration and the VISA lottery among other things. President attacked the compromise but if this gains steam could immigration reform be the next big legislative change to go through?

No. I find multiple attempted policies of his to be stupid, ineffective and unnecessarily expensive. Like the border wall, trans in the military, his DACA stance and revoking the legal status of immigrants and refugees like he just did to the El Salvadorians. Just dumb.

ok i think all of these have been covered in multiple threads. except the salvadorans.

fi i am not mistaken it is called TPS (temporary protective status), note the worth temporary. look i was not a dutch national citizen now i am, i had to be extremly responsible to stay in netherlands, i had a temproary status that would get extended every year depending on my results at the university and the available funds. it took me a while to earn the dutch nationality. through different imigration stausses.
don't you think temporary is the key word, how long is temporary supposed to last? 1 year 5 years 17 years?

i think those Salvadorans had enough time to go through different immigration options. but i think they lack (personal)responsibility. i think a country is better with (personal)responsible citizens or inhabitants. or can i come over to america if my home gets hit by a hurricane/earthquake then i can come to america forever!


i dont think we need to go in daca, trans the wall because i think those have been discussed ad nasium

Great let's not. The length of the time they have been discussed is irrelevant to whether I personally agree with his policies on these issues. I don't.
